Thanks "Wade Fishing" and "Joe Slab" for the replies! cheers "Joe Slab": Rios are a good eating fish during certain times of the month. When they have their side wounds on em (due to protecting their nest)I would not eat em. I usually don't eat em but know people who do and they say they are pretty good. Usually spring time and late summer through fall are good months to keep Rios that you are going to eat. They are also some SUPER FIGHTERS. boxing

Those are some HOGS! One thing I know for a fact. Those were not caught on the Guadalupe River! Did some San Antonio creek fishing the other day. Lots of sunfish including some very nice Redbreast and a bunch of fat Bluegill. No Rios. Lots of heavy vegetation. The creek I was fishing was in pretty good shape. Also did not see any Rios. Guess all the past flooding really messed em up? At least you are finding some Rio Hogs. Again good job Chuck.

Side Note: Crappie bite is very good! Are you chasing em?

Thanks Curtis for the reply. cheers I think I have only caught two or three trophy Rios off of the Guadalupe this year and maybe a total of five for the whole year. I hope August through October the bite will get better. If not there is always next year. eeks

Side Note: The Crappie bite is very much alive and well! hooked

Wow a Bull Rio Post! Nice fishing Chuck. Glad you were able to find some nice ones. Hopefully this will be a sign of better things to come.

Side Note: I guess the May Flooding really messed up the patterns. How soon do you think the Rios will get back to a normal pattern?

Thanks "Gitter" for the reply! cheers The Rio patterns were a wash out this year. bang With all of the major flooding that took place in May,it washed away a lot of nesting Rios. eeks Certain Creeks and a couple of Rivers are starting to get active. hmmm However most places I fish the Rios are few and very hard to find. hide2 Looks like next year things will get back to normal. thumb

Side Note: Baring any major weather changes! juggle

Thanks Chuck for the information. Finally caught my first Trophy Rio off of Mcqueeney. It was right at 9". Also the Bluegill are hanging around the docks. Early morning bite has been good. Still catching some nice Crappie east end. Brush piles 17 to 20 feet of water. Also stick ups in 18 to 20 feet of water.
