I have never had a chigger bite before. They don't like me. But I have a buddy that wears pantyhose while we bank fish and says he never gets bit anymore. Works awesome for wading the coast, jellyfish can't sting thru them.

I use deep woods off that has 40% deet. I don't have to soak my legs or anything. The nasty little chiggers will crawl on you and then down into your socks or any other moist area they can find. For my legs I spray a light layer from the kneecaps down. I then spray the outside of my socks to help them not want to be there, then I roll my sock down as far as it will go and spray a nice thick layer, then pull my socks up again. This keeps them from wanting to crawl down my sock. I also spray my shoes. I then spray a ring around each thigh above the knee, just in case some of them make it past my legs, this usually stops them. I then spray around my waist line and arm pits (not a bunch).

This seems like a lot, but after having a few encounters with them really bad, I choose be over cautious than paying the itchy price.

I've also heard that the citronella bracelets will work out well if you put them around your ankles and wrists. Not sure how well this will work against chiggars, but it says that it will repel them.

Tape your legs of your pants to your boots seems to work for me. Also use off after just to be sure.

Also if your getting in and out of the water a lot might just get some breathable waders that come up to your chest.

I always heard that chiggers generally don't survive temps. above 100 degrees. If that's true, then your problem should die off here in a week or so (for a while at least).

I use 3 layers of at least 35% DEET. The higher percentages of DEET last longer, but they are not more repellent. I spray my legs from knees to ankles. Then I roll up my socks and spray those. Then I spray my pants and boots. Don't forget to spray around your waistline.

Does under armor make a once piece suit yet?

If all of the above advice fails, take along a dog to help you scratch.

The blue listerene will make the itching stop almost instantly. Has worked for me. Use a qtip or rag and put it on the bites.

do they leave scars? I still have the spots where they bit me but it looks like it wont go away UNATTRACTIVE

They can leave scars if you scratch them. I know mine are still fading from last month as well.

Deep Woods Off is a good product. I used it one year when the chiggers were particularly bad and that was the end of the problem except for the bites I already had of course. It has Deet.
I sprayed my clothes from the waist down and that took care of it for me.
