Ok, here is my 2 cents on all this.

It seems to me that this was total harassment and that Brian should get copies of the video, statements from camera boat personnel and then File a Law suit for the entire cost of fishing the tournament, 1st place monies and emotional stress. Since this is not the first time this guy has harassed him, he would have a pretty good suit.

Yep, the story leading up to this story is probably more interesting. Something happened in the past to cause a man to go to all this trouble. Wonder what it is?

I dont think a attorney would touch that as it is on public waters and theres no way to judge if Schmitt would have caught anything there had the a-hole not been there. But I would like to hear the rest of the story that made O Donell go to such extremes. Theres gotta be a back story in there somewhere.

I find it hard to feel sorry for the guy he obviously cheated ,or he would have taken the poly. Yea i know he only did it the time he got caught..said Robby Rose!

sounds like some of the drama ive seen on dfw lakes over the years, like dropping open car batteries etc on known brush piles to keep fish off them.

FLW really botched this back in 2011 by never clarifying what the specifics of the violation were, especially one that took place several weeks earlier. To be fair, Schmitt never issued a statement either, but he would have no reason to really since he had already admitted wrongdoing to FLW.

My personal opinion is Schmitt likely solicited information from O'Donnell back in 2011. The two were supposedly friends, so my guess is something happened in that relationship to cause O'Donnell to turn him in and remain bitter 4 years later. Once again, that is just me speculating. By all accounts, Schmitt is a decent guy so I find it hard to believe he "paid" for information in any way. Might just be a case of O'Donnell being bitter that he hasn't been compensated for Schmitt's successes.

another theory because O'Donnell only bothered and stayed on this one spot, he didn't harass Schmitt anywhere else, is that this was a spot Schmitt got from O'Donnell years ago, weeks ago when O'Donnell was in tourney, or came across him in practice. Seemed like O'Donnell was just butt hurt about this one spot.

Admitting to breaking rules was the right thing to do, unless he didn't break them, but that leads me to believe he knew who turned him in and what the real reason behind it was. Must have been something really bad he expected to be asked, beyond just prefishing, for him to forgo the poly.

Now, the same guy that turned him in is following him around the lake and should be on camera harassing him, and nothing is done? It's illegal here to interfere with an angler right? Surely, Bama has a similar law.

Also - and stick with me here - if cheating in a bass tournament is against the law (not just the rules), wouldn't interfering (beyond some locals fun fishing a spot that a pro had been fishing all week) with an angler, intentionally, be the same? If he is on camera throwing across the pro's line intentionally and otherwise interfering, that changes the entire slope of the tournament, for all anglers. Especially if the angler was in a position to win or finish high. I realize you can't shut a lake down or prevent people from accessing a lake, but surely there is some leverage from some LEO.
