I keep one of my Yeti coolers secured in my truck for ice, but I won't take it in my boat. By the time my partner brings all of his tackle on one of our fishing trips, there just isn't any room to move around in the boat, and I fish out of a 21 ft boat I would use the cooler that came with the boat, and just replenish the ice as needed. There isn't a bass boat made that has enough room for an extra cooler in my opinion. That said, I think after many hunting trips, the Yeti is still the best cooler on the market,

I've never had ice melt all the way in my Ranger, even 12 hour 100 degree days. I've heard Rangers have the best coolers and I believe it.

Guess you could call it a high performance cooler vs an adequate cooler. When the sun is blistering down and you reach in and grab a drink that's 33 degrees in a Yeti vs 38 or 40 in an adequate cooler, It's the ahhhhhh factor that says, worth the $.

I would rather buy a new boat with a good built in cooler compartment as opposed to spending $400 on an ice chest. That's just me.

I would never spend 300 to 400 on an ice chest, people say that in the end you'll pay more for ice without a yeti..... I found a loop hole, I bought ice trays and make my own ice. When I get back from an 8 hour trip my ice is really not that melted and I refreeze it when I get back. I use a small iglue, I took the handles off and it fits perfectly in my boat storage box so it don't take up boat space just a little storage. I haven't bought ice on 2 years.

I'm amazed at what guys will spend on a cooler. When I sold boats we always tried to explain to sacrice one bag of ice on the way to the lake to condition the built in cooler. Then ice down the drinks when you arrived with a fresh bag at the lake. You'd have thought we were trying to sell golden bags of ice with all the dismay that idea brought.
Now guys are dumping hundreds on a product that tells you to sacrifice a bag of ice to treat the cooler. Blows my mind +1 it must be a status thing. I've never had trouble with a cheap cooler. Friend has a yeti and it isn't any better than mine. I just don't get dropping that kind of money on a cooler. I bought a foam cooler that fits perfect into one of the storage boxes in the back of the boat and keeps ice all day long.

I do see some guys riding around with a yeti strapped to their tool box instead of putting it in the bed lol

In my case, I may leave the boat in the water over the week end. I'm not digging the 100 yard walk back and forth up hill to the house toting my cheap cooler to replenish the ice. Well,...400$ I reckon I could get a golf cart?

I bought a 100 mph suit, had a poncho that worked too. i cashed in an REI dividend and used my once/year 25% off coupon and bought a Yeti 45, so i managed to get it at a substantial discount. Otherwise i wouldn't have bought it. I like it and bought it because it is indestructible, i put it in the space between my rod lockers and it fits perfectly as a deck extension - i don't worry whether a 300lb bubba will cave in the lid, the way its built i think it would support a '72 buick.

We have 2 Roadies, a 50 Yeti, a 25 Bison, and 2 Soft side Bison coolers. It might be a bit of overkill, but everything always stays cold. The guy that says his $20 Igloo is just as good as a Yeti is crazy.
