Heres my little guy, he is a mix Australian Shepperd Blue Healer. He survived a nasty fight with Parvo, I am just glad to still have him around.

They are very independent and vocal. Alley lets me know every day when it is time to go for a walk. She will continuously howl and moan until I take her.

Yea they like to "talk" and it really is more like talking then barking. Arw, rar, rar! Etc and they are presistant with it too! When he wants out or anything for that matter he will tell you and will not shut his meat hole until you acknowledge what he needs/wants.

Won't do many tricks and will not fetch a ball or a toy either, he could care less. He does like to play if you push him around and tease him.

I taught the Lab to

sit
stay
fetch
shake
play dead
lay down
fetch but stop on command mid way and wait till continue
catch food off his nose
catch a ball in the air
play dead with a biscuit on his nose and not move till I say so
etc, etc, etc.

Each skill took about 20 minutes to teach him, speak was actually the longest because you have to make him understand what you want and can't put him into a position like the other stuff.

Now the husky, it took three weeks to get him to sit on command about a month for lay down. The wife had the patience to take months to get him to shake and still this basic stuff when he does not feel like it he is stubborn like a mule and we hear back from him with , "wooo, wooo, wooo, wooo" which must mean, I don't feel like it.

One thing for sure it ain't cause he is dumb they are smart as a tack, it is just labs want to please their people and huskys want to have things their way.

Of course I love em both! You are right to independent is a good way to put it! Huskies are just unique animals,

Here's my BabyDoll. Raised her from birth. She had a cleft palate and was tube feed. As you can see she is perfect now.

This is jake, He is a 9 YO Shephard/Husky mix.

This is Coco, She is a 2 YO Chocolate Lab.

They are great together, since the first day I brought Coco home, Jake shared everything with her, including his food. They are our babies thats for sure. They both love the boat to.
First time I took Coco fishing, she sat on the front deck, watched me cast out and retrive. On about the fifth cast, she dove off the front of the boat to go get my lure. That was to funny. Glad she didn't get it though.

Above all else hold these two things in the greatest of circumspection; government and self.
