It's not hard snagging fish if they are in there thick. Saw them pulling up quality fish constanlty. You can obviously see they are snagging by their rigs and the way they are jerking it, they caught my attention when I see them pulling fish up every couple minutes or so. They are in groups

Question...what's to stop a poacher from just putting his overs on his buddy's stringer, or in his icebox? I mean if the game warden saw the poacher catch and keep too many that is enough evidence to write him up. They wouldn't need any stringer evidence. I guess it is one more fine they can give the rotten arse poachers. But sounds to me like it will mostly effect honest fishermen. One more hoop to dive through. I do applaud the plain clothes effort. Wish they'd do that more often, Say at places like Rowlett creek and the like.

It's not hard snagging fish if they are in there thick. Saw them pulling up quality fish constanlty. You can obviously see they are snagging by their rigs and the way they are jerking it, they caught my attention when I see them pulling fish up every couple minutes or so. They are in groups I suspect a GW probably gets a little irate when dealing with them. You know they do not have the fish divided by each person's stringer. They are poaching when they are getting fish by snagging. I suspect almost everything that comes out of their mouth is a lie, so, yeah, I suspect GW would get smart mouthed with a group he has probably observed snagging fish and thrown them into a single cooler that several fishermen are using. Let's face it even when you are fishing at night and if you are intentionally breaking the law, they have probably already been watching you and might even have you on video breaking the law. They have night vision binoculars and other equipment. Texas GW will watch from the OK side and OK GW will watch from the Texas side. You just need to come clean and fess up to it rather than make him mad by lying to his face. That's not fair. You may not make him mad because he has heard the lies too many times, but he put you in the dumb liar category and will not be lenient at all. Also, if you are on the OK side, they are a little ridiculous at times. On the OK side they used to have a minimum size limit for catfish. My BIL caught one he could tell was too small and immediately released it. The OK GW came running up saying that fish counted toward his 15 catfish limit and wanted to see and count his fish. He was wondering how a fish too small to keep could count against the limit. Even though we had to pay a lot extra for an OK fishing license, that game warden cost them revenue. We decided we like the size and quality of fish that we caught in Hagerman and OK could keep their tiny catfish that seemed to be all the bit most of the time below the dam. Even though he and my husband do not have to buy an OK license anymore because they are over 65, they still choose to fish at Hagerman instead of below the dam. Even after Sammy Brown retired, the new Texas GW who would make his way through Hagerman checking licenses was a guy you could talk to and enjoyed joking back and forth.

Yasssssssssss! The rain God have answer my rain dance! Need more rain I don't agree. It may make for some fun fishing at the DD but until these lakes around here recede, rain is what we don't need. Hell, theTrinity is already over its banks. Some folks are saying that Roberts and Lewisville ramps may take until Sept before they re open. Grapevine is about 26 ft high and you think we need rain? What about all the people that can't get to and from work without driving many miles out of the way because of roads being closed? Did you see the houses floating away downstream in Louisiana because of the red river? So no sir, I don't agree with you.

I think somewhere around the "Rain God" guy, there is a tongue planted firmly in cheek! Lighten up, its been rough on all of us and a little levity might be just what the doctor ordered.

Shimano Stella reel and Lamiglas or G-loomis rod. You will be able to cast really far, and catch your limit

I had a nice big serving of humble pie up there this afternoon....(burp). Messed with a nasty wind knot on my son's reel way down into the spool for more than an hour trying to save $20 of new line, broke off a brand new 3 oz. popper right out of the box on the first cast with it, then retied another popper and broke it off two casts later...trying out a new knot(the Alberto knot) for the mono leader to braid connection. Must have been doing something wrong with that knot. Going back to uni-uni knots for the time being. A storm came through around 6. Gave us all a nice light show and a soaking, then blew the lid up on my cooler and broke off both hinges. Messed with the wind knot for a while longer, then packed it in and went home. Often times I can scratch out a few fish up there popping or jigging, but today was just one of those frustrating ones that reminded me of how much fun the better days are when the gear and fish cooperate. Next time will be better. Still better to be up there watching the river flow than at home cleaning out the garage.
