I got back at dark and there was no wait. But parking lot was still fairly full.

How come I keep catching small fish when every product I buy is supposed to catch more and bigger fish?

Thanks Newbie, though guess it really doesn't matter now since 10 ramps are now open. Guess I'll see how they're biting next week weather permitting.

Hopefully you remembered where the trees that you fished early in the year because they are now sitting just below the surface just waiting the grab ya. Last weekend when they opened all the county ramps, I saw an increase in jetski traffic and sure enough one of the jetskiers was hauling buns in one of the flooded coves and showing off for the shoreline fans and found one of the submerged trees. I only gave him a score of 8.0 because he didn't stick the landing. Good luck and be careful out there.

I was looking for 400cfs as COE said would happen today, but at this moment we are at Zero outflow. Guess that will quite the Guad downstream.

Just looked at the COE site, the homepage says 0 outflow but if you look at the data at Sattler gauge, its actually 405 as of 1300 today

Yes, I saw that. We were just wondering how the river can be flowing like that with nothing being released????

Ok Canyon Lake folks, we are making a trip over there this week. My family decided to rent a house on the lake near Ramp 6, so if I am going near water the boat is coming along!

Any issues on running the lake now that it seems to have returned to a more normal level? I would bet that the weekend traffic is a zoo, not unlike Conroe, so my time on the water Saturday and Sunday will be minimal if at all!

It will be my wife's first time in this boat, and the grandson's first boat ride. Real excited about idling around with him, gotta start training him early.

I will of course wet a line some, I mean after all that is what we do! Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I haven't been on the lake recently, but the reports I've seen seem to indicate no problems. And I think your assessment of a weekend zoo is right on. Wish I could give you more info

Just got back from fishing canyon. As far as ramps go, lots of boats but most of the ramps had half a dozen spots available. I launched out of 23. As far as the fishing goes, well it sucked. One Dink and I feel fortunate I got him. Talked to a couple guys pre fishing and neither said they had any bites. Saw tons of bait the water, and lots of dead baitfish floating. I don't know what's going on with this lake lately, water level changes have messed things up I guess.

I know a lot of the camp grounds are closed but do they really have to camp out on the boat ramps. I tried to use ramp #22 (very small ramp) this am and there was two families parked on the ramp camping. They looked like they had been there over night. I watched a guy try to launch, but the kicker was that one of the cars would not move. Also there was a couple, primitive camping on the edge of the parking lot. I passed and went over to #23. But there too had crazy stuff happening, when I returned to load there was a guy working with his dog between the two lanes that were loading and unloading, he would throw the dummy out and the dog would swim out and retrieve it. Who has the right of way for that? I don't remember that in the boating safety class. Sorry for venting.....I too only caught a couple of dinks that didn't know better than to hit a rattle trap. The water was very warm at 84 degrees.

Those ramps especially #22 doesn't get a lot of traffic and is mostly used by those in the subdivision.
Those squatters know this, and probably do the overnight thing on a regular basis.
I've run across the same thing on other ramps on Canyon. It seems to be a popular thing to camp out on a ramp. They hold heat and they can watch for snakes easier, and the water is deep enough to have the fish come in close to shore.
What I hate is when they build fires right on the ramp and leave all their trash!

Just one more cast!

For county ramps, call the Sheriff's Dept. - this is the ordinance and I have seen them enforce it when they're on site.
