I have no idea why you have to rape the river of fish that it leaves very little for others. Poachers should be thrown over the spillway.

Well I made my way to the river this morning. I had my 10 year old son with me. We had about 2 hours to kill. Didn't have any gear with us. We just wanted to go check it out.

I couldn't believe how many guide boats were on the river. I counted 29. And there had to have been 200+ people fishing the Texas side. Saw some nice fish caught.

I haven't been down there in years. It was quite the spectacle. I didn't realize so many Asian's were into fishing the river. It was 10-1 at least. And I was very shocked at the amount of trash. It was sad to see all the trash. They need to pass out trash bags and tell these people they can't fish until it is ALL picked up. Have everyone turn in a full bag of trash for fishing privileges.

I did get one good laugh. Here comes this guy with his wife. They rig up right in front of us. He has a surf rod with a spinning reel. He got it rigged up and made his cast. Then he reels it in upside down. I thought maybe he had a tangle or some reason he was temporarily doing this but he did it on every cast. Everyone had spinning rigs and were doing it right. My son and I laughed as we watched him. These two Asian guys were laughing too. I wish I knew what they were saying.

We drove over to the Oklahoma side. Not many people fishing that side But that's where all the guide boats were congregated. Saw Sparky's boats. Man them things are huge. There will be some busy auto repair shops in the area with a lot of rear end problems. Them guys were backed way down into the water to launch and trailer their boats. But saw some full coolers with some monster stripers. Lots of happy clients.

Its amazing how much water is being moved and how many fish are in that river. Just amazing. With as many fish the Texas Side is pulling combined with the guide boats I don't see how this pace can be kept up long. There are a LOT of fish being pulled. I won't be joining the competition any time soon. When the river settles I'll have my 16' jon boat out there with my son. I would love to show him an exciting day on the river and hook him up with a 15+ striper. That boy will never be the same. But he made it very clear today he didn't want any part of what was happening on the Texas side. And neither do I. What a mess.

If it ain't yours don't mess with it!

Yep the texas side is a mad house but I seen more folks than that before. I was there saturday morning only managed to get two. I was at the wall lots of people there have no clue of how to fish in the current. But than there are those who do and do it very well. What I did notice was the guys that were able to keep there line in long enough before it got crossed by some one else caught fish. It was very frustrating people on the wall and on the rocks close to the wall were crossing lines. The main problem there is that these people do not pay attention how the current is moving and how to fish it. I mean I am by far no kind of pro but anybody that has ever fished not just below DD but below any kind of dams knows its all about the movement of the current and where the eddies are.

was out there fishing the rocks on the first stairway... catching almost every cast... fishing the rocks was the ticket... i was throwing 3 1/2 ounce weight on top with half ounce jig and fluke on the bottom with 4-5 ft leader. casting it as far as i could and letting it sink to the very bottom and slowly reeling to work the bottom of the rocks... literally caught my limit on 10 cast. all fish were nice looking.. looks like the rocks producing a lot of fish... i did get hungup with people tight lining... ehhhh. but caught my limit so didn't feel the need to care so much...

answering all the pms i got. 3 1/2 ounce weight then 4-5ft lead with 1/2 ounce jig head with fluke of your choice... throw as far as you can and let it sink to the bottom and work the rocks....

question number two on pms. fish anywhere along the rocks and you'll be put on fish... why fish the wall when its neck to neck... and waste time cutting line and losing it... there are plenty of places to fish and is a lot easier to land fish on the rocks IMO. let the stairways in the parking lot be your guide wheres fish... i noticed a lot more headache than pleasure on the wall... thats why the veterans stay away from that area lol.

also to note... for all you guys that fish.. please pickup your trash and quit throwing the shad dead shad on the banks... you guys are the people that are making the dam horrible.... also just some advice... if you catch bait... isn't it wasteful to catch more than you will use...? god put fish here for us to enjoy... but you guys throw a cast net to over take bait from the lake that your just going to throw on land so maggots and flies to get to?? have little more respect for the lake/dam and show our next generation of rookies the way...

from what i seen... this is nothing like 2007... guys need to respect each others space... and help others out there when they need it... all I've seen is a bunch of selfish guys looking to make money out there... selling fish common problem .... catch and keep what your going to eat... release what you won't keep... I'm about 200% that most the fisherman that come out to the dam to fish probably still have fish from 2007. and stays frozen and freezer burned... GOD WILL BURN YOU GUYS FOR THIS.. by tangling your lines and make you lose all your lures !!!!! LOL

but anyways to everyone else... i did manage to see some nice fish pulled up on the rocks... there was a group of *non racial* white guys fishing... they had some hogs AND THEY RELEASED them back into the dam. what a great group of guys... they outfished everyone... they knew what they were doing...

did see a few paddlefish in peoples coolers... you poachers of mother nature will get caught one of these days...

also did see a lot of people throwing cast nets and keeping striped bass in their nets... i hope you guys get burned for that also.

so far the ROCKS have been producing the most that I've seen all season... the bite is great... moral of the story is lets keep it nice and clean for the next fisherman that comes out with his son or daughter. so we can have more clean seasons... because this by far is the nastiest I've ever seen the dam... smells like [censored] because of dead fish on the banks...

Went out this morning. Pulled in at 6:30 and it was already shoulder to shoulder all the way down the wall and most of the way down the rocks. I tried fishing amongst them for about an hour and got tired of getting caught up on people who don't know how the current works and moved down the bank where I saw a bunch of fish pulled out the other day. Caught a bunch of nothing but that's probably because it started pouring. I sat in the car for about 45 minutes to see if it would let up and it wasn't so I packed it in. I'm gonna have to try during the week again sometime. I can't deal with those crowds.

jeff.m it is just as well that you left. It rained so hard for so long everything was flooded. They shut down the RR bridge at 75 due to water over the bridge on the north bound Oklahoma side. Various spots on 75 were closed due to flooding. If fact the sheriff put out a message that all main arteries in the county were closed due to flooding.

We were at church and everyone had a very long convoluted trip trying to get home. You just could not go anywhere without running into an area that was flooded.

WoW! It's amazing that we've gotten to the point that 2" of rain in 2-3 hrs
creates flood conditions.
I have neer seen rainfall like this in my life. truly something to tell the grandkids about.......
