Lake Konowa at #68 but no Monti? There is no comparison between these two power plant lakes, either historically or currently. Konowa is a good little lake but come on man!
I'd rather Monti not get the publicity. As far as number of 4-7 pound fish, there aren't many lakes in Texas that are better. I hear you, but there may not be 2000 acres of water anywhere that has been pounded like Monti has over the last 35 years. Monti has been a bass factory since day one. Just one of the best ever. I 100% agree. I'd rather it not become an out of towner destination, I guess that was my point. Keep going to Fork. Monti is incredible, and this year has been one of the best out there.

Why not an "out of towner"? Since it isn't a town, it's a lake, how close to the lake should your town be to not be considered an out of towner? I'm asking because I have fishing licenses in 6 neighboring states and one in Texas that is fresh and salt. Just wondering what folks think. I fish pretty much when and where I want to, unless it's a private water. Then I don't. But with a license I feel I have paid for my righ to do so. I also get a little irritated when people fish a lake I consider my home town lake. Don't know why it bothers me. But it does. Lol. When I fish my home lake, I'm more relaxed and more apt to "lazy" fish. When I'm fishing a "non-local" lake, I attack the lake. Run and gun. Nonstop. Haha. Feels like I'm intruding and have to get what I can as fast as I can. As big as Texas is, it seems to be broken down into a zillion little places and "strangers" aren't as welcome as they used to be. I dunno. Weird.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

I've fished multiple days on both Toledo Bend and Guntersville. If I had the chance to fish either lake I would pick Guntersville every time. I've never caught as many three pound or better fish in my life.

It's interesting that the top Texas lakes according to Bassmaster are among the most popular lakes chosen never to return to in one of the current threads in this forum. I wonder why that is?

Maybe because they only choose from large, well known lakes...including those that are tour stops? I doubt many of the guys who make the list have fished Nacogdoches, Gilmer, Martin Creek, Fayette, Bastrop, Sandlin, Welsh, Athens...

Cool about Toledo. Lots of ranks make no sense at all to me. My list of controversial items is as long as the list itself.

If I'm not mistaken, bastrop and Fayette BOTH made the list last year...

Ray Roberts????!!!!! My sentiments exactly! I know there are pretty good fish in there, even been fortunate to snag a few & have had good days with Dannie...but left to my own devices I can't pattern fish or catch decent #'s out there to save my life. & Yes, let's keep Monti hush-hush.

No marine creek? I heard it was loaded with 15lbers. I've seen what appeared to be a bonafide SAL on a bed there earlier this year, but she wouldn't take any of my offerings before she got spooked & disappeared. Two trips there & I haven't been impressed, though.

They definitely tried to spread the love around more this year.
Austin, Dunlap and Bastrop all off the list. Probably a good thing.
I guess no one has been following the results on Conroe this year.
