If you have not heard, they have increased the floodgates as Texoma is going over the spillway again probably right now or by 7:00 pm. They believe it will rise to between 643-644 by June 22. Rainfall this year has just been nuts and hurricane Bill was added rain we did not need.
I do not believe any of us last summer when Texoma was down to 608.?? ever dreamed it would go over the spillway this year and go over the spillway twice in less than 30 days. We just do not get that much rain.

My only lament is that southern plains states could maybe do more to contain the water & mitigate the damage when it does happen, possibly creating a solution to the drought that is as much a part of life here as flood. The A.C.E is awesome, if we could have twice as much reservoir capacity... you dont need it, till you need it.

I was out there yesterday when they opened the gates a little more at 11:20. You could definitely see the difference in water coming out. I wasn't there for the 3:30 opening but from what Jim posted it's almost twice the CFS from what it was in the morning. Crazy.
Lots of really big fish being pulled out up on the wall. Some game wardens made a stop while I was there. Two of the three were in plain clothes and busted a couple of guys that were there. I assumed it was for being over limit, which they were. The warden asked to see my ice chest as I was putting my stuff back in my car and I asked him about it. He said not only were they over limit they were also selling the fish. Bet that'll be an expensive ticket. Hard to feel sorry for them, though. I'm sure they know the rules. Before the wardens showed up they were talking about taking the fish home and coming back for some more.
Anyways, most people were still catching the fish on 1-2 ounce white or yellow jigs. Saw some caught on large top waters as well. Went to Basspro at lunch to get a couple more jigs in case I go back and they were just about sold out of them. Guy said since so many dams were open everyone has been buying them like crazy.

Oh yes, they have handed out several tickets over 20K back in 2007. We even busted a woman on the DD thread who was photographed selling fish in Plano or Richardson. I highly suspect TPW reads this and they probably knew exactly who she was just like we did.
I know in 2007 there were some people catching and keeping 20-30 10" and 12" stripers. They were caught and their fine went up $$$$$ for each fish over the five fish limit. Not only did they get fines well over 20K but all of their fishing equipment was impounded. I believe a few of them did not even have a fishing license at all.
I believe most were glad they had been caught. The woman who was caught selling fish was the worst to run and get in the spot where someone had been fishing, caught a fish, walked it down the wall, and would not give the spot back to the person who had been fishing there. She did not endear herself to anyone would be a nice way of putting it, lol.

If you really need to catch fish past your legal limit to sell, then I suggest you get a real f**king job. I hope you all that do this get busted by the wardens so hard and make you go in debt that you have to move back in with your mom. I have no idea why you have to rape the river of fish that it leaves very little for others. Poachers should be thrown over the spillway.
