Ive been using either 2oz jigs and casting it way out or using 1/2oz jigs with a sinker swivel combo. If your on the wall you can use the same thing. Jigs poppers etc.... Live shad and bluegills are doing good as well.

I want to see the 9 lbs and 20 lber. Not hammering you but big fish is like porn, if you know what I mean...
Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

I can't really afford those set ups most of you guys have. In my opinion the fish don't care what brand or how much you spend the main thing is you have to be able to cast where they are at which is far as hell. Especially in this chocolate doodoo water we having right now, you have to pretty much be lucky and land your bait/jig right in front of the fish {more leeway if using poppers but still far as hell}. my full set up {rod, reel, line} is under $100 and I've been able to limit out 3 times and only got skunked twice out of the 8 times that I've gone, knock on wood. My arms and back were literally burning afterwards cause my set up is extremely heavy but hey that's the price i pay for being cheap lol. I avoid the bridge and fish the rocks because i'm too cheap to buy bucktails/poppers lol also because i do not have the accuracy that others have with my cheap setup and newbie skills. My set up; okuma tundra 10' rod reel combo $38.15 shipped via amazon prime, i swapped out the reel cause it was way too heavy for me. Currently I'm using an old daiwa samurai 4000b reel that came from a $30 rd/reel combo from years ago, and half of a spool of 20 lb 300 yd Powerpro spectra braided line from Academy $20 {use mono as backing to save money. If finance isn't an issue definitely go with the good stuff cause you'll be able to fish comfortably and longer. **disclaimer** to throw this cheap set up you're going to have to seriously but some back into it. personally, with the 1 oz jighead and swim bait, i can cast pretty much close to if not right into the start of the white currents but even that isn't always consistent. if you're not a decent distance caster you may not be able to hit that distance. If you go this route and it doesn't work out don't blame me. Youtube the technique to better your throw and keep in mind that if you're fishing the rocks like me you'll have to throw with both feet grounded ....unless you dont care abut falling into the river. My friends with the pro rods can outcast me with better distance, accuracy and use much less effort. Also this rod is stiff... waayyyy too stiff to my liking. If pencil popping is what you want i do not recommend this rod.

You're wrong mr. teeewin the fish want the most expensive setup go big or go home, at the end whos whining about being sore and stiff blame yourself kuhz your setup is heavy . I like my setup light that way on the way home I can just relax and ktfo! no soreness or stiffness on my shoulders brother haaaaagotiiiiii

Well I tried to read back a few pages to get an idea what you guys are fishing with but all I see is a bunch of jawing back and forth at each other. Anyone care to tell what lures are working best right now? I can go big, I can go small. Whatever is working. I usually try a few options. Top column... using 3/4-1oz bucktail or fluke . Just let it flutter along the current. If that doesnt work, i go deeper with 1.5 -3oz bucktail fluke. or 3oz weight with 1ft leader with 1oz jig which i hate but works. Cork and jig is out of the question for me since my elbow throbbsss after 5 casts even though it could be very effective. or if fish is really finicky, i'l go straight 1/8 - 3/8 oz on my lightttttt setup. I havent had too much bitten on my swimbaits but the water is still a bit too high and murky. If all else fails, i might try livebait but i hate using live bait. Only if i get desperate and about to skunk. lol. strategy is catch 4 good fish, save the last one for the kicker monster fish. Thats when you gamble bigger using tackle you dont want to lose. I donated a few 25dollar lures to a few underwater trees this year already.
