Welcome to the OT, Rob! One bit of advice - never listen to anything that papamark says. Duly noted. Thanks for the tip.

63 ain't as old as it use to be, besides that it's just a number. Hope you enjoy your new hobbie and take papamark up on that Phoenix ride. I'm 60 and don't feel a day older than 59.

I am 62 and had hernia surgery last November. Glad I got it done because I feel great this year, better than about the last 15 years. Just really got back into tournament fishing and fished hard all day in a tournament Sunday and felt great. I have some guys I know who are in their 70's and still fish and are as active as a lot of people 20 years younger and hope to follow that trend. If you get a boat and need another old fart to fish with give me a call. I am always ready to go fishing.

Welcome Rob, stick around down here in the OT. Good luck with the boat, I'm likely going to do the same thing in a few years

Never too late. Just get something you can easily afford (preferably a good boat that you can pay cash for), as you'll presumably be on a fixed income soon.
+1 to the advice about getting something that you can launch & load solo without much difficulty.

As the oldest guy you will most likely ever hear from here:
BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just remember to get the boat you can handle (Loading and unloading) and is comfortable for you to fish from, Remember, your getting older, a fact, not younger.
Toons are a blast, however not the easiest to load (JMO)

Go for it for sure. I was 52 before I bought my first boat and started bass fishing. That was 11 years ago and I am still going strong. You owe it to yourself. Do what you enjoy.
