nowhere to launch boat but the marina is open and you can fish from the dock. A few folks who have their boats at the marina are going out. If you stay in the open its fine. Its hard to get into shallow water along the banks since the water is back in the trees everywhere. There basically is no bank anywhere. Rocky Creek is very fishable from the bank but I'm not sure it's open. Boat ramps are all closed

Thanks, an incredible view of the lake. Very unfortunate situation though. Now you have a video of the Lake at it's lowest point in 2011 and highest point in 2015.

I was listening to 610 radio Outdoors show this morning. Captain Mickey and Captain Benny were checking out your video of Lake Somerville. Specifically the part with Birch Creek unit with water up the eves of a building.

Lake Level is down to 258 ft. Gates are open and releasing 2441 cfs. Lake level is 257.4. Still releasing 2441 cfs. At this rate, it will take the lake about 100 days to get back to normal. Barring any further rain or changes to the release rate, it may be September before the lake is back to normal.

The rate of drop will increase as the lake lowers (gets smaller).. I'm thinking that about 60 days to normal if it doesn't rain too much to quickly.. still lots of water coming in from the watershed..

Is there any place to launch a kayak from?
I was thinking that the rocks/trees along the dam would be a good place to catch some catfish.

Welch park is open last I checked and has good access to the dam.. but really you can launch a yak just about anywhere you can get near the lake..

As I don't have a trolley for my yak, I don't really feel like lugging my 90# WS Ride too far. I was mostly asking which roads/launches were accessible as most of the places I normally launch from are closed. Good to hear about Welch. I will go there I guess. BTW, great video. I love watching your stuff and would love to hook up with you sometime once the water levels come back down to normal.

It may be a while but the lake will come down and I'll want to head up the Yegua to look around. I'll bet the road to Newmans Bottom is all but gone... and damage to the trailway and state park is tremendous

You would have easy access from Overlook Marina and plenty of water back in that cove to fish. There is so much vegetation underwater. A kayak would be perfect for working along the shore and back into the trees.
