cause a problem for st. augustine. My lawn has not had much drying time and concerned that it might cause a fungus or mold of some sort. Do I need some sort of prevenative treatment for it. I don>t know.
Thanks for any advice.

Sure will. Dollar spot, brown patch and fairy ring all are problems already. Needs to be dry to spray with a fungicide.

Sorry, but I do not know many of the names of many DIY products. I do know of one named F-Stop by Fertilome in a granular if you can find that one around.
I will warn you that fungicides can get expensive. They are pretty expensive and to work good they need applied every 14-21 days during the right conditions for the fungus

I just got some St. Augustine installed in my front yard about a month ago. The landscape contractor recommended using gluten meal in the fall to prevent fungus from the wet soil. I don't know what it is but with all this rain I guess it's time that I do a little research on it.

Corn gluten meal is used as a pre emergent. So applying it in the fall will help with winter weeds. Never heard of it as a fungus control.

That works very well for take all patch [in my opion that and sulfur are about all that works] but to me I would recommend a fungicide for brown patch.

Been Telling people to do the Sphagnum Peat Moss for years. But very few will do it. Makes a St Augustine lawn look good and uses less water.

You know it is not that hard to do. I buy three bales every fall. When they go on sale. Put them in the back shed. When spring comes and i see the grass getting green. I break up the bales and spread it around. Then i put the bagger on the mower and cut the old grass about two inches tall. Take the bagger off and spread that around the lawn and mow again. This breaks up the peat moss and spread it out nicely around the yard. As soon as the rains start i aerate my lawn. Than do the final scalp. I will cut the grass as low as possible one time in the early spring once i see that its turning green again. To many people scalp there St Augustine lawns in the winter which sets it back because it had nothing to protect it from the cold winter.

I don't know what it is but with all this rain I guess it's time that I do a little research on it. You can get Whole Ground Cornmeal at feed stores for like $6.00 for a 40-50lb bag. Works great for fungus control. Corn Gluten Meal is typically over $30.00 a bag.
