Thanks Wilson. grin I'm a Daiwa surf rods guy, if I go I'll bring my custom 9' mh lucky go to rod for fishing the steps, 10' mh Sealine for the wall, and 12' TD mh for chucking 4oz plugs across to OK banks... now all I need is a few lessons from you on how to catch big fish. woot

Why do I go fishing? To catch a box of fish and/or some quality time under the sun. Thank Heaven I never fail fishing in Texas, catching box fish or plenty of sunburn.

there for 2 hours. Had a good workout. its no place for noobs for sure. most fish came at most left side where the slack water is at. popper seems to be the ticket. Met Tien and said hello to him. good to see someone i recognize. if i had some chance to get my bait stay long enuf, i would have had some chances, but with elbow fishing and line crossing left and right, it wasn't feasible. Maybe next time.

Moon, hook me up some poppers!

What does "BC" in BC rod stand for? Any one know a good surf rod that can cast far that doesn't bend alot and that isn't too thick, and that's less than $100? I'm planning to catch a huge striper, but if I don't it'll look cool too loco_2

Dunkky, i have plenty home made poppers, designed for DD fishing. But i am far away from home, you have to wait 3 more weeks. hope that 20#, 30# stripers are still there when i come back home.

BC rod = bait cast rod. A good quality surf rod costs way over $100 new. You may get an used one for that price.

just a bit of advise for rookies who see wilson's post thinking that they can score at the spillway. First go there and see what and how they do first and what gears they use. they've been fishing there for years that I know. casting against current with 4oz wt wouldn't get you no where other than crossing each other's lines. In fact on the way out where the parking lot is at, people do just fine with buck tails. No monsters but 17, 19 inchers. i personally would have been happy for those size. fishing elbow to elbow is not my type of fishing and it really does require skills.
