I totally agree about the small children. I loved, loved, loved fishing there, but when the younger son was born I did not fish there for many years until he was a teen. Young children and all of that swift water was out of the question.

Well we did fish the Oklahoma side for catfish when only the generators were running. One trip little Mr. Youknowwho made Gene's brother so made I thought he was going to bust a gasket. He would watch his pole a little bit, run around in the sand, come back and catch a fish. Repeat this process many times over and brother was not getting bite much less catching fish. Gene son came down and the brother and son started *itching about Youknowwho catching fish. Son had set a pole out and was getting others ready to throw out. Youknowwho picked it up and started reeling it in. Son said, "Now you know there isn't a fish on it." It was a 7# black bass. We pack our gear up and left. roflmao

I suspect the airboat is one of the Speed family. He guides below the dam some and takes people around to view eagles on Lake Texoma during winter months too. It may be a good thing he was there today as they rescued the father and son whose boat was flipped by the water current. The father and son did have life jackets on or it would have been a tragedy. I suspect the father was not experienced in what to do or how to be safe in swift water.

We may wait until Tuesday to go see the water going over the spillway when these folks are at work. This time I think it will set a record for how fast it came up after finally reaching normal pool for this time of year.

Just long enough for a bite. Then when I went sometime after I got out of high school you would cast out and it would just go down stream right away.

Back in the 90s the didn't have that cement wall near the tex generators. After they put that in the current is pushed against it and down stream. 90s was the best. Just like 90s music

That cement wall 0revented the water from pushing up to the top left of Texas side which killed alot of fish when they stop generat9ng. Many many 20 30 pnders were stuck and left to dry when the water receeded. Much easier to fish when the cement wall wasn't there. U could keep your bait in the water much longer which raises your chances 9f being bit.

Surprise to see moon is not in action. maybe working on his secret weapons..

When condition is like that what's the proper way to do it? will cork fishing work from tx side against wall?

Wilson, are those cats good eating?

Moon, let's go fishing. i need to try corks i got from you. they have never seen water yet. I might go tomorrow if weather's ok.

There is a very good chance it could peak much higher than in 1990. Wichita Falls flooded again last night and the Wichita river goes into the Red River. The flow at Courtney, OK, is over 200K cfs. This is the station above Gainesville on the Red river.

I am very curious what the updated data will be today on the COE's home page as to what they predict the crest will be.

Thought about hitting there now just to get some stress out and for old time sake, but looking at that picture of dongkingkong festival, I am not too sure if it' worth it.

The spillway is wall to wall people watching the water go over. It really is not set up for fishing.

Below the dam is going to be wall to wall fishermen and gawkers too. I believe Wilson is fishing the OK side which means you will need to get an OK license.

If you do not want to join the melee today, it is fun to watch others fish. You can learn a lot watching and people watching can be fun too.

Thanks, TB. sounds like it wouldn't be so bad. dealing with spectators are ok. but over 10 people targeting a small pool can be very challenging. as long as people show respect and take turns, it should be ok. i might just give a shot. wouldn't mind just checking out good old red river.
