During my trip today main lake, I noticed a ton of people at the spillway. I decided to stop by the dam on the way home to see what was up. I left my rods at the dock on purpose so I didn't get stuck fishing there, lol. I made it to the back road and quickly decided to turn around.

Bad day for me. Started out leaving my darn tackle bag at home. Didnt find out until i got there. Had to make the best with the 2 jigs on my 2 rods. Hooked up to a big blue then some moron lady decides to cast over and tangle my line. Then my line gets caught in a freaking tree... done. lol.

Had one jig left and waded where the air boats were back in the corner near the trees and bushes. Landed 3 stripers in 30min, lost my last jig in a bush, cigaretts got wet and went home. lol. haha

After two days of doing some research this is what tackle I have come up with do you always need to fish with floats at the dam or just a jig head is enough? Also how heavy of a leader should I use mono or fluoro?
I will be using a whooping stick 12' and a Stradic 8000 with 65 pound braid that's good enough right?

If anyone has a little more insight please pm me

Thanks for the help!

65 is alittle to much id say 40 is perfect 50 the max id go.
You can do both bobber setup and jigs only depending how you wanna fish

fishing is one thing. catching is another

take the 2 floats you have on the left and burn them. Everything on the right of it works. If u want to fish with a cork, use the one that looks like a teardrop. Use 20-40pnd braid, 40pnd leader. It all depends on where you fish to determine the best setup. I stopped using surf rods and heavy corks due to my surgery so i try to go lighter tackle. With your setup you can prob catch them on tex wall. good luck.

If you use cork/jig, make sure your jig is not too heavy, 1/8oz jig is the max weight i use.
