I'm planning to take my family here fishing today or this weekend. Can we just go anytime or they only open at the certain hours? While I am a woman, it really isn't a place where you want to take small children. That is the main reason why I did not fish it in 1990. The stress of keeping an eye on a young child with the swift water was not worth it. Then there are all the hooks of fishermen lined up shoulder to shoulder and trying to keep the kids far enough back where they will not get hooked when a fisherman casts out. I waited until my younger son was in his teens to take him fishing there. He watched others and learned from them plus I told him how to fish. When I fished there it still had the fence up and the cable was strung across it. This was during the 80's and the guys who fished there regularly respected me and knew I knew how to fish there as well as catch fish. Even though I love fishing there and catching large stripers, it was too stressful to take a small child. Maybe down river at the 3rd set of steps where it is not as crowded as the wall might be okay. You still have to keep them out of the water and back far enough or away from other fishermen.

Also some dude died saving 2 drowning kids.

I was worried about bringing that set up; guess ill start with that. with the water this high and trees in the water..... that setup was too light. neeed somehitng with more than finess to beat the current and trees.

somehow this smells like human flesh. Got like 200 pounds of meat out of a 50pnd cat. Had to secretly borrow my neighbors trash bin for a few days for the carcass:( i like to keep my bins clean.

By the time you cut all the nasty red meat out of a 30# blue, you do not have much meat left at all. I cut the red meat out of salmon when I buy a filet. It has a nasty flavor too. We just keep channel cats anymore when fishing for catfish. He gives smaller blue cats away. We release big blues after we get a picture. We drove up there today but did not see you fishing on the wall. You must have been down river. The man that died trying to save two kids was on the Oklahoma side where the sandy beach area is. They turned the sirens on warning they were turning the generators on and the kids did not get out. That was very sad. No, no kids when the water is blasting out of the floodgates.
