Several of my larger swimbaits are 6oz and up. Fishing them on braid is a disaster waiting to happen. A big bait generates so much momentum on the cast that the line will dig into the spool and SNAP!!! Dammitt.... Heavy mono like big game, McCoys mean green, etc... will absorb the shock from casting a large bait. Even heavy fluoro can be risky with a big bait due to the kinks that can occur in the line. For swimbaits under 5 oz I'm ok with using 20 - 25lb flouro but my heavier baits go on mono. I will fish punkers and rats on braid because I'm not afraid of them sinking to the bottom. What's a c-rig?

Question for you guys that are recommending braid for the "big" swimbaits: Have you ever experienced a "cast off" bait when the line inadvertently digs into the spool and the reel suddenly stops mid-cast? If you want to see how far a 8" huddleston can go, throw it on braid Man I've seen it a few times in the boat but I've been real lucky to avoid the line snap casts. . .I saw my buddy cast off $60 worth of tackle on one cast with an A rig and later that day snap off a lunker punker. Lol. He was in a BAD mood. A punker you have a chance at getting back, depending on where it lands Not this one. . .he had wrapped lead on the hooks to make a subsurface bait. It sunk slowly. It was one of his tourney lures. Lol I remember him running up on the front deck and jumping on the trolling motor trying to get to it before it went down but he threw the damn thing like 100 yds.

A JPeel C-rig would be a 6oz weight 60# mono main line, 40# leader with an 8 inch floating Huddleston. LOL

Thanks everyone for their input. In taking a general tally of all the responses, it looks like floro wins. I wont be throwing any of the big swimbaits (5-7 inches max) and the heaviest jig or CR I will throw is around 1 ounce. I personally like braid more but I have seen floro outfish braid a lot lately.
