So can you catch big flatheads in a 1-2 foot of water in some of this flooded brush? Phantom is only up a couple of feet, but there are a few area that have some flooded weeds. Just wondering how shallow to go for flatheads

I always fish medium heavy action ugly sticks and Abu 5500c reels, 20lb main lines, 50lb leaders, 3-5" live perch. One things is for sure, flathead fishing isn't for the fisherman who want fast action, but when you catch one it's a blast because theyre usually big, and they fight like a freight train.

Maybe at night. They'll roam the weed line picking off crappie or gills.

Go fish the Hill cat boss always talked about. Dude caught 15-20 flatties every night out of that spot sarcastic

I'd Tack That!!

Yeah, this forum just isn't the same without Catboss. I know Blues fishes with him behind my back...catching a couple of 75 pound flatheds every night. Who needs enemies when I have friends like Blues

I fish on conroe and I run a 6500 with 25lb and 18 inches of 30 lb leader with a 1 oz slip sinker on the mainline. 6/0 to 8/0 gamakatsu live bait hooks and either live bluegill or a small live carp 4 to 7 inches long but right after the spawn they will pick up cutbait more than usual.
