Buton just take a look at the Halo's in the Twilight series, you won't be disappointed they are in the 150 range.

For the record when I say more tip, I mean a SOFTER tip, more give... that way you can load the "spring" to cast and to set the hook

This is all correct! I have used many CR rods and the Mike McClellands Heavy cover Jig Rod is the best out there. The Amistad has a split grip which I don't like for CR

I'll say that I use the H2O Ethos 7'3" Heavy for my Carolina rigs. It is the perfect blend of tip and backbone as stated above. I use Falcon Cara Amistad, Dobyns 735C, and Lews Custom 7'2 Mag Bass Rods for them from time to time as well. When I'm throwing a 1oz weight I have to have the amistad.

this rod is the brand of your choice... I want a lot of tip in a long rod that shuts down after the first 1/3rd to me that is more a medium heavy but I go off feel more than rating

i agree, they slapped the "heavy" label on it so i called it a H. If i were rating it would be a MH.

Marlin i hear ya on the weight, but weight on a C-rig rod don't bother me too much. I used to use Powell Max 7'6" H which were heavier, so maybe these just feel light in comparison. I bought 2 of them for $100/each so the price was right too. I like to carry 2 identical rigs so if i break one off while they are biting i can get back in there while they are still hot without having to re-rig.

I still use the Falcon Lizard dragger, have it in Lowrider and the Cara series both.

Dobyns champion 804c ( CRig special ). The 804 comes with a 16" handle, plus it's 8ft.

Or if you want versatile Hvy jig rod plus CRig. The dobyns extreme 745 full handle.

If you've not fished with a Dobyns you should give them a look.
