If im going to keep the fish I just use a big enough leader get some hookouts and pull the hooks out, rinse and throw on ice.

I had to go down to a #6 on Ray Hubbard last night as I was only feeding them with a #4. Even with the #6, I was getting mouth hooks every time. I did have to put a split shot on it though.

I would really LOVE to see a Stubby's Punch Bait! What I mean is, same ingredients, but a thinner consistency with cattails in it for fiber. Would keep me from re-baiting as often, and the fish would have a lot harder time slipping the bait off with a soft bite.

I just want the best of both worlds.

Punch bait will NOT stay on as long as dough bait Thinner consistency is gonna wash off a lot faster. I was surprised how long Stubbys stayed on you sure some peckerhead democrats (free meal)wernt gettin a free meal

you can rig your hooks up so that the fish cant swallow the hooks by using a short dropper loop ... maybe 2 inch long dropper loop so that the fish's mouth hits the sinker drop before the hook goes down it's throat. That's how I use setting type hooks so that the fish won't swallow them and it works great... setting hooks are J type or kahle hooks .. tied on like normal except instead of the normal 8 inch dropper loop I use a 2 to 3 inch loop ... 8 inch for circle hooks as they work better with longer dropper loops. But it works great like that and hardly ever get the fish hooked deep like that.
