I wish I could find me one to two wooded slat traps, So I can catch the mudcats/ bullheads out of some of our tanks. I have always heard that a couple of yellow cats will take care of the bullheads,

You can build a wire trap pretty easy, and since it is a private water body it's legal as long as you own it or have permission.

Illegal in Texas water and hopefully trotlines and jug lines soon to follow. I haven't been here long but just long enough to see that you must be a liberal? It's typical of them to want to take away from everyone everything that you don't like even though it's perfectly within the law. Do you primarily fish for carp and have residency in Austin???

You would expect that from a Chevy man. Maybe we will just go back to Hand fishing only... then in a few years we will let Spears back in. BTW, I do hand fish, so I just beat up His Dad...

Someone help me understand the difference between someone who catches 25 fish on a trotline or jugline and a fishing guide who takes out 4 people, fishing with rod and reel, and comes back in with 100 fish. Harvesting is wrong regardless of how it's done, taking limits of legal fish is ok regardless of how it's done.

Nothing is wrong and their is no difference. Why trotlines and jugs are bad: 1. bass fishermen hang their lures on trotlines. 2. there is a misguided belief that trotlines and jugs kill "their" big fish 3. someone is having fun and catching a few of "their" fish for their families. 4. some cannot allow a man and his kids on vacation have a good time and catch a few fish on jugs or trotlines. 5. because they are bored and need something to b***h about. 6. some of those are guides that catch a lot of fish for their clients and they think someone catching THEIR catfish somehow reduces their income. I used to support the guides and their catch and release, but since they have taken the misguided belief that they should set rules and regulations for their benefit and cut the ordinary fisherman out of being able to enjoy their style of fishing, I no longer will support them and will do everything I can to stop their agenda. Look at bass fishing. Used to be fun to go to the lake and catch a few and take some home to eat. I witnessed a man cleaning three bass, one about 5 pounds he had caught at Coleto Creek. Their was a couple of guys loading up to go home, and saw what he was doing. They ridiculed him to the point that his about 7 years old son was crying. That is the direction catfishing is taking now. Is that what you want?

To be clear the harvesting of fish with trot lines or jugs lines is not my beef! I could care less how one catches their fish legally!!!! I am tired of seeing all the trash left by lazy jug liners, tired of seeing the countless fish floating dead snagged on trotlines and hate seeing stories of teens killed because they became entangled in an abandoned trotline because someone was too lazy to take it out. This is a hot button issue and I understand that but if the trash keeps piling up we will lose the right to fish that way sooner or later. With the water getting up on some lakes now you will find trotlines or jug lines hanging in the bushes and trees when the water goes down and we have all seen it! This is a danger to animals and children who may not be looking for this type of stuff. Many areas on lakes that used to be public are closed because people would not take care of the places or clean up after themselves.

Banning a fishing method is not winning. I agree! Having public lands closed because of trash is not winning either! A few people doing the wrong thing can ruin something for many.

I tell ya what I got to gripe about...big ol bass boats running by me on plane while I'm catfishing in my flatbottom. I've took water over the front several times. Prolly gonna dround some young kids some day.
Anyone know if were gonna get bowfishing for catfish back this year? I heard it was a possibility this September
