Your correct. But, I did have a 'power ski boat', big one, challenge me by continuing to turn in to me on EM Lake! I had to stand up and was trying to wave him off....he continued to turn in to my path! I just stopped....and sure enough he ran by with 20' and threw a huge wake at me...for no reason at all other than stupidity! I would have love to have a laser then to 'lase' him!!

I agree that some of them are downright negligent and/or ignorant. When someone goes as far as to endanger your life or property you need to call the game warden, but if they're just being annoying just put your head down and fish

Seen this on Lake O pines, game warden was out checking fishing license over at guys that were fishing on the other side of boat lane from where I was fishing, pontoon boat comes by with guy in ski boat zig zaging across the pontoon wake, Game Warden watch as it went by, then went and pulled the Ski Boat over and gave them a ticket, when he pulled up to check me I asked why he gave the ticket and he said for unsafe boating, and operating a boat within 50' of another boat, I would loved to know what it cost the guy,

Two instances on LBJ.

1) I broke a crankbait off on a jet flea after about 10 minutes of blasting by me well inside of 50' including spraying me once during a very close pass. He got the point flipped me the bird and left. I did politely ask him to stop before the escalation.

2) Fishing the exact same point at a later date, I had a wake boat that was getting so close that their wake was almost throwing me out of the boat. Once again I tried to talk to them before blowing up. They left the area running their mouths after I bounced a jig off the side of the boat and I'm pretty sure it left a mark!

Both of the above incidents were people being blatant a-holes and they were purposely making the close passes, over and over again.

The water is public but there is no reason to be an a-hole!

True, I'm sure there are more and more instances of not using boating safety or, even knowing the regulations in some cases. It only takes once to ruin a day's fun and fishing.
Seems there are more and more of this every year.
I try not to let it ruin my trip and your right. I don't have or haven't thrown a spoon or treble hook at a jet flea or boater but I sure would love the legal right to hit them with a laser to warn them ..... 'back off', IMO. Seemed to me like a great 'non-lethal' method but, they view it like using a laser on an airplane according to the game warden, so guess that's out.
Just try not to let these few, ruin your trip and have fun...

My fishing partner and I made some modifications to the boat and now we don't have a problem. If someone gets close we just shoot them in the legs to warn them.
