Nice fishing! I caught this little guy on Salado Creek during my lunch break yesterday. Didn't weigh or measure; this was my first warmouth ever and I was just excited to catch one!
Wishing I was in my kayak.

Thanks Dr. Erk for the reply. The Warmouth is a very beautiful fish. Don't see all that many out of the river lakes. The Salado holds some nice ones. Caught a lot of em off of that creek. Side Note: Nice fish!

Nice haul guys. Looks like the GBRA is working on the dams. Levels on Mcqueeney are low. According to the GBRA levels should be back to normal the later part of this month. Side Note: Looks like a chance of some heavy showers this weekend. This should muddy up the water again just as the water was clearing up! (Still can always use the rain.)

Yeah, I'd like to know how to specifically target warmouths. It seems they are bottom feeders, so maybe I need to use your "bottom technique" if I want to see more on the end of my line. Also, I think there's supposed to be rios in this creek, but still haven't managed to find any. If you have any advice as to how to locate prime locations for them, I wouldn't mind a nudge in the right direction

Some of the docks I fish are almost out of the water. Can't wait until the lake is filled back up. As for the rain we can always use more. Side Note: How is Mcqueeney looking? Is it low due to the Dam repairs? Dr.Erk: All of the Warmouth I catch are when I am fishing for the complete variety of sunfish. I do know that Warmouth love hanging around structure and love ambushing their prey. I have caught em mainly off the bottom in both shallow and deep water. I have also caught most of my Warmouth in creeks with good current. As for the Rios the Salado was loaded with em a couple of years ago. I am having trouble finding em on that creek. They are there I just need to look a little harder.

Thanks for the reply Chuck! I took a look at the Salado water body records and saw a familiar name. I'll keep trying for em. It's always exiting to catch a fish species for the first time!

I'll throw in a thanks to you guy also. Little did we know when we did this last year that it would turn into an annual event, but it appears to have done just that. Mutt and I are old band members that go back 30 years. There's nothing like that many years of history with a good friend. Chuck and Mike are the toppest of the notch and I'm home, have washed clothes and am looking forward to the next time. Thanks, guys.. it couldn't have been any better.

Great time for sure Mutt and Bob. Can't wait to fish again! Side Note: Maybe next year we can open the fish fry day up for any of the TFF'ers to come join us. It would be nice to put faces to names.

As you say Chuck. It don't get any better than this. Nice haul guys.
Side Note: Heard the lake was low due to dam work. When will the work be completed?

Do you guys ever have a problem loading/unloading your boat on Dunlap ramp under interstate 35 when the water is lowered for dam maintenance ? My understanding is that the water levels will be down for another week or two. Thanks for any advice in advance.

My understanding is that the water levels will be down for another week or two. Thanks for any advice in advance. There has always been a strong current at the IH 35 ramp making it a little difficult to load up. As for the lake being low it seems a little more harder. The lake should be back up to normal level by this Friday. Side Note: Thanks for the replies.

Mcqueeney is still low as of 5-20-15. I was told it would be back to normal level by the weekend. As for water conditions, it's still a muddy mess. I drove over Placid this afternoon and it is muddy also. Last time I fished Mcqueeney was Monday and it was slow. There is also debris in the water. Be careful.

Got word that all the river lakes are super muddy including the Comal River. It's gonna take a few days for things to get back to normal.
