Check the LLELA website. all the info you need is there. Even with the high water, it should open, since it's only open on weekends

Tough to get gamefish to bite in this kind of water.

Update: Elm Fork is to the top of the channel, and about to overflow into the land between the levees between Regal Row and Grauwyler. I would say that at least for today, it is NOT fishable in that area. The water at California Crossing is to the point where the dam was not visible earlier today. Some HUGE cats carp and buffalo moving UPSTREAM over the dam. Amazing sight. When the water level drops, Sandy Lake, California and Frazier will be so loaded with fish, they might have to be declared illegal!

I stopped by elm fork in several different places today. The water looks like chocolate milk. How many days generally does it take for the water to clear up for the lmb, crappie, and sandies to start biting?

If it doesn't rain, couple days. Release from Lewisville doesn't affect much but rain and flood runoff sure does

Caught this last night, fishing was bad because we couldn't find any buffalo for cut bait. Caught one shad with the cast net and this is what it brought me. Didn't get to weigh it, After i released her, i realized i had my scale in the backpack. The water is way too flooded right now. a few days ago, the water was low enough to fish by the dam, thats were we caught our buffalo for bait. i had my gf fight some big cats that day, one ranging between 20-25lbs that popped the hook next to the shore (weight got wrapped in a bush along the shore) the other one did a death roll after it ripped the drag, his tail looked like the size as the flathead i have in my pics below. overall she had a blast, biggest fish she ever had on the end of the line. cheers

As of 10 AM Monday, May 18th., The Elm Fork, from Frazier Dam, and through Irving, to its confluence with main part of the Trinity, coming from Fort worth and west, was out of its banks, literally levee to levee! I could not safely take pics because I was on 183 and traffic was heavy. Been several years since I have seen it that high.

Water has retreated to th very tip top of the river channel. Water running higher than top of Frazier dam. Will be tough to get in there, due to the mud.

I've never fished the LL release or the a trinity south of LL. Where would be a good place to access?

Water is starting to overrun the top of the river channel again, and starting to creep towards the levees--AGAIN! 183 between regal row and grauwyler
