Don't go dry-erase. Use a wax pencil and transparencies, photo paper, plexiglass clipboard, or something similar.

well for backup incase the batteries go dead or whatever else could happen Why not just carry extra batteries? We tried the dry erase board for about a month. It was more trouble than it was worth. If it gets wet at all the marker starts coming off. Not to mention if the marker tip gets wet it doesn't work. so if the batteries go dead in your scale does it save the weights when you take out the dead batteries and put new ones in?? Somehow, yes it does.

I use the cull system that lets me dial the weight on the culling ball, I dial the weight into the cull ball after I weigh the fish. When it's time to cull, I just look for the smallest weight on the culling balls and then cull that fish, then reset the ball with that new weight. Pretty simple and I use a Berkley scale that the battery has lasted two years so far.
