. . .so he'd have a certified weight. If I catch a bass over 10lbs I want to be 100% sure it's accurate. But he could care less.

Makes no sense to me but what ever floats your boat. It doesn't make sense to you to have an accurate scale to measure with? What's the point of using a scale if it's not accurate? Why not just guess? I don't want to be one of these guys that goes around saying my 8lber was a 10lber. If it's 9.999lbs, I want to know, because that isn't 10lbs, and yes, that matters to me, as it does to about 95% of bass fishermen.

Retirement best job ever.

Couldn't quite figure out exactly what point you were talking about but regardless we hammered the whites pretty good. We ended up fishing the 3-5 foot flat north of the island that is a couple feet out of the water as you are leaving elm creek. These whites had the biggest average size I've ever been on. We didn't catch a fish less than 10" and everything we kept was 14" or bigger. We only kept 10 for a Saturday night fish fry. Picked up a 4# largemouth on a jerkbait mixed in with the whites. Buddy caught a small largemouth on a squarebill. Mostly fished for whites in the morning. That afternoon I caught several 2-3 lb largemouth on flukes rigged on a shakey head, buddy caught a 3 lber on topwater and a 9.25 lber on a pink/white fluke rigged texas style with a green tungsten weight (he says the green weight was the key). Didn't fish for bass very long sunday morning. My son wanted to catch a bunch of fish. So I put him on a Pop-R and went back to that flat. He had a blast. We probably caught 50 fish in an hour or so. We brought home 23 whites and I have 5 lbs of filet in the fridge. He had a blast.

All the more reason for him to be throwing them back I suppose.
