Fished the spillway. With a small spook. Any news at rocky creek? Wow, That's cool. I need to try that some time. I haven't gotten any reports on Rocky.

So it's my 2nd year fishing Somerville, I have never fished the spillway... My question is what the best flow rate to fish the spillway. Right now is 989cfs. Is that a little high? Want to get out there but not sure if worth it.
Thanks.

Yeah the fishing is pretty good. You should head out there with topwater or a spoon.
Fishing is fun and adictive, but always stay safe. Happy Fishing! How do you add a photo...

I heard they are catching white bass out at Rocky Creek. I was told it was on fire a week or so back.

According to my fishing log it was still going strong at this time last year. Best bite was early morning. If they are lined up at the gate when you get there you'll know for sure how good it has been, LOL!!!!

Wow, the spillway gate is wide open. Haven't been since it was trickling about a month or so ago. Does anyone has any spillway fishing reports?
We were still catching limits around Rocky Creek until June of last year; however, the water level was a lot lower last year so it may be a little different this year. If there are a lot of shads and I would assume there will still be a lot of white bass especially right before daylight and early mornings..........

Fished a couple hours, only two bites. Tried spoons, traps, a road runner, and top water. Saw a guy across from catch one small white...

Do you think it's still good at rocky creek? You can troll just outside the buoys East of the boat ramp side of the main point. Or go around the point and troll slowly (2mph or so)inside the buoys at any given time right now. There are two cuts (and conversely 2 humps)SE of the main point about 50-60 yds out. Water level on average is 4-12ft. Use a Rattle trap lure (every year the color changes to what is best, but typically a blue chrome or white pearl color) You can wade best towards the South end of the point where the water level stays about 3-4 feet on the flats and cast out. Another great spot this time of year is Big Creek. Trolling Traps inside the buoys just around the corner from the boat ramp. Wade fishing from sandy beach/volley-ball pit is excellent depending upon water level. You can also cast lures from the point out towards the lake. When trolling I would recommend using chain swivels to prevent twisting. Example- http://www.amazon.com/Brads-Killer-Fishing-Gear-Swivels-Pack/dp/B007LH2T7W

Two friends and I went on Sunday (5/3/2015) to rocky creek park early morning, arriving at 6am when the gate opened. We were surprised to find it's free for bankfishing. We fished at the point using live minnows caught at the bank using nets. We probably fished from 6:30am to 10:30am. My friend had 1 bite with 1 white bass caught. I had no bites. I used 1/8oz roadrunner but no luck there either.
There were several boats anchored there fishing as well but nobody seemed to have caught anything. Strangely we saw along the bank, there was a belt of dead shads about 3-4 yard away from water level. What's with that? Were they dead after spawning (like salmon)?
We left and went to birch creek park fished another 1 and half hours with no bites at all. We asked the guys that were fishing there but was told fishing was very slow.
Is the white bass run on the lake still to come, or it is not happening this year?
