I would also suggest the Fort Worth Fly Fishers Club Auction at the end of this month, the 28th, I believe. The Dallas Fly Fishers had a lot of flies at their auction and some went unsold. I do not know what you are looking for, but you might click the contact button on their website or post on their facebook page. http://www.dallasflyfishers.org/.

check the bargain barrel at Cabelas. There are some good flies in there sometimes in packs of 10 or 12 for around $6.

I buy almost all my flies here: http://www.anglersdream.net/ They are usually delivered within a day or 2.

Angler's Dream is my resource for most of my flies. They have quantity discounts and very fast shipping. 2 or 3 days to the north Texas area. I haven't had any quality issues either. I've been buying their products for about 3 years now.

Flies are cheap just about anywhere you buy them; it takes time and products, feathers, dubbing, hooks, thread, and a variety of other materials, plus tools to tie them. I have many friends who tie, some in a very big way, and others like me who tie for fun.
Many flies you buy in the store are tied in Thailand or one of the other Asian countries by women trained to tie a few patterns; they make little money each day, have poor lives, and turn out as many as they can. companies then sell them for next to nothing. The margin is tiny generally.
Returns on flies tied by most tiers amount to a few dollars at best; most people can't survive in any way on income derived from tying; there is none. A tier I know got $38.00 royalty for his fly "rights" on some sold to a major company. The word profit for most fly tiers is a laugh; they do it mostly for fun and get little return.
Professional tiers must tie thousands, and still there is practically no money in it. To see what it costs, buy a vise and the good and try it yourself. You are getting a great value at fly shops on their flies. Give them your business or they won't be there for the other things you need.
The only person who makes money on flies is a person who ties thousands if that is their source of income, and they will probably starve. Companies that sell flies do make some money but they have to sell thousands, hundreds of thousands, or more to do so.
So, basically, all flies, except Classic Salmons tied by an expert tier, are cheap. Buy them from your local shop.

Come on Harold, don't give away the secret about tying your own flies saving money. I've easily reduced my cost per fly from the $1 to $2 each when purchased at a shop to about $5 each by doing it myself....

I placed an order with anglers dream Thursday evening and my fly's were on the porch this afternoon when I got home. Order was correct and even had a freebie. Quality looks good and for less than it would cost me to tie them. Will order again soon.
