This is the rule that is listed as "Rule #17" on their website:
17. Fishing Guides who have guided for black bass on tournament lake during two-months (60 days) prior to tournament and Anglers who participate in a National Circuit and have winnings of $50,000.00 or more during the previous calendar year will not be eligible to compete, unless said person has fished in the preceding tournament of same division. Championships are considered the final event in each division
With that being published as one of their "rules", do they still allow guides to fish their Fork Div?
I emailed Media Bass this morning to enquire, but never received a response.
Thanks

You will most likely get a response like there grandfathered. Crock of shxt So if a guy fished Media prior to being a guide or a pro and then made the decision to go pro or become a guide he should not be allowed to enter their tournament? What logic is behind that idea? I'm talking a guy that truly fished the trail before and truly tries to currently fish it. Just because he spends more time on the water as a guide or is a successful pro shouldn't mean he can't enter the tournaments. I do agree with the rule, but I am also ok with the grandfathered in part of the guy truly made an attempt to fish the trail in the past and is truly making an attempt to fish the trail now - not just jackpot it.

There's a guide rule. Does it make a difference if they were not a guide and now they are a guide Do away with the rule if your not going to enforce it Either your a guide or your not

But it is alright to hire a guide prior to the tournament.

Rules are rules and everyone should be required to follow them.

this is the reason that this trail only draws 26 boats on fork in April
What a joke
It's not like we are talking about weekend guides, if you google the name of these folks you will find their website "lake fork guide"

I'm just curious if it's okay to not follow that rule then can one pick and choose which rules they feel are or are not convenient and applicable to them or their partners and kind of self govern?
I was considering fishing Media again after a few years of not fishing it, so I was reviewing the rules and stumbled upon a conflict that is pretty obvious.

I'm friends with a couple of the guides y'all are talk in about the fish the fork media tourneys. And the way it was explained to me is that as long as the fish the first tourney of the division before they do their first guide trip for the year then they are eligible for all that did visions tourneys.

Simple...... Just don't let the guide out fish you. In all honesty we are humans after a fish. Why let someone intimidate you. He is on the same water at the same time.

Well, when a guides job is to be on the lake 7 days a week and is paid for it while John doe works a 9-5 m-f and gets out there every weekend don't you see a huge advantage there? But, at the same time, when you sign up for those tournies knowing guides will fish it then that's on you.
