I just read over on 2cool where Capt. Josh (Bluefin - Freeport) said that he has inside info that there is a good chance that when the AJ season closes June 1 that it may not reopen after July 31 and that it may stay closed until January 2016.

If you don't mind me suggesting you might see if Willie can work on them for 2 day limits of Red Snapper if AJ can't be had.

I know they have the permits and never did understand why they wouldn't use any of them on us last year. Other boats that are on the pilot program for Red Snapper are doing it on overnight trips. Just not the Scat Cat.

So we can't catch red snapper, and maybe not AJs. What's left?

Man oh man I hope I can hook up with this trip again. After the crazy last few months I've had I'm hoping to do some serious offshore work in 2016. Hope you guys wear em out.

No news on the AJ issue... right now its just a rumor... Willie has talked to FW and we can cancel the trip and get our money back up to two weeks out so if the fish council does something stupid we can make a decision then... im ready for some fishin!!!

At Roy's today I ran into Capt. Brian Cody who has run a number of different boats in port A. We chatted for awhile but I didn't think to ask his opinion about that or if he'd even heard that rumor. He's a big AJ fishing fan.

Unfortunately I really doubt that the decision will be made two weeks out so you can cancel.

That's why I suggested a plan B such as deep dropping for tiles, etc. or getting assurance from chops that you can chase shrimp boats for tuna, dolphin and ling.

I still think they could divvy up some red snapper tags for this charter if they really wanted to do you right.
