Well... I've already planned and requested the weekend off to go do my thing up there. I'll give everyone a hands on updated report after the weekend.

Well... both Nails Creek and Yegua reach the lake, although very shallow. Plenty of depth for fish to get up into them. No flow on Nails. There is a normal slow flow on Yegua. No spawn activity, and not a single strike in my first day and a half. There's the update.

Did you take a drone or a boat out to the mouth of the Yegua?

I saw a view of the lake from a guys airplane a few weeks ago, it doesn't look good at all. Pray for a five inch rain or better. We need a good flood to help wash out that silt build up on the west end of this lake.

A lot of rain falling in the head waters of Somerville. Hopefully it will flood and bring up the lake. Loiks.like Nails creek is going to get a lot through the night. Yegua is getting it's share as well.

Lake is now less than 2ft low and still rising. The lake has not stabilized yet, water is still flowing in. Rain still in the forecast for the rest of the week. Recommend you wait for the water to clear before attempting to go fish. The bottoms will probably closed until conditions dry out.

Good sign. Last year the lake was 5 foot low and we got a big rise. Maybe this small rise at 2 feet low will be enough. If Nails got any flow it will be productive. I caught 7 white bass in there after the first rise we had this year.

Nails creek rose quickly this afternoon and is out of the banks. Yegua is up about a foot so far but the water is still coming down. Nails is looking excellent for at least a short run. Still crossing my fingers for the Yegua.

Cedar Creek might be good also. It would be the first that is fishable.

Lake is not coming up much. Still 2 feet low. It's only changed a little bit. It's a wide lake and it can hold a lot of water. So it takes a big flood to make a difference. But that's what this lake was built to do, control flooding.

It's not very deep at the mouth of Nails or the Yegua but both are connected to the lake so the rise in the creeks might have been enough to let some fish make the jump over the flats. Ray and I are going back in the morning (Friday) to check on the progress.

I went to Nails Creek this morning and the creek looked great. Still a nice flow to it and good color. I fished about an hour with no luck. I did not see any fishing working either. I then went to Newmans Bottom, which is open to drive in, but Yegua Creek is still up and running a little muddy. I just fished about 15 to 20 minutes with no bites. I decide to drive over to Willis Creek and I did not get a bite there either. Oh well, it was fun, and I got to see a lot of country.

Both creek finally connect to the lake again. Give it a bit and they should move up
