Its been about 3 months since I fished below the dam but this video gives me the fever. If the fishtales dude can catch a few small ones then I should be able to catch 40 or 50 big ones and a few hybrids roflmao roflmao roflmao I noticed you started catching when you switched to a Moe-Beta.

the only luck I've really been having is at the spillway, the last few weekends i've been out there, i've caught some hybrids and sandies at the spillway and the asian people on the walkway apparently have this down to a science because they pull them out left and right. Id rather catch nothing than compete to fish on that walkway. I tell you what though...those rocks get tiring when fishing on them for hours in the sun.

Thanks for the vid FishTails, I'm about to give it a watch. Unfortunately I have not had time to fish this week yet. I've been to busy catching 4-7lb black bass at a local neighborhood in Cypress or NW Houston. It's a secret not many know about.

One thing I try to remember when I'm fishing with other people.. I fish for fun, C&R most of the time and will yield to those folks that are fishing for dinner.

J-Moe caught about a dozen or so.. I caught 3.. wink I'm betting this early/late feeding pattern will continue as long as the COE is releasing water.

Great fishing with you as always my friend. Just wish it wasnt months between fishing trips though 😩. I went out this morning. The pattern was exactly the same. They started schooling at 7:08 AM and quit at around 8 AM. I caught 20. 8 of those were undersized.

Trav, if I were to fish the main lake I would likely take a kayak and chase the surfacing white bass. The only decent place to fish for white bass from the shore would be along the bank at Welch or in front of the dam. Good luck today.

Too early to be thinking about fall crappie fishing in the creeks? Probably.

Kind of hard to predict what shape the Yegua will be in come Sept-Oct but this high water certainly won't hurt the fall fishing if and when it comes down.. Thinking about kayaking the Brazos below Whitney tomorrow. You interested in doing that trip with me?

Did you make the trip to the Brazos, Ben? I need to get a new kayak for the upcoming fall/winter. The one I have currently is in rough shape.

Lake Level is 245.85 feet. 7.85 feet above normal. The flow is still only about half open at 1050 cfs. I'm not sure why the COE never opened up the gates fully. The Brazos is way down so it shouldn't be an issue to do so. At that rate the lake will likely be releasing water for another 2 months.

I heard that 1 or 2 of the gates are broken. Cant believe everything you hear, but it would be a reasonable explanation.

Interesting, they have had the dam closed for maintenance on the gates twice in the last couple of years so you might be right.
