So anything is good fried. You guys cook crappie any other ways? I have never been much of a fisherman, but got a new boat and ready to get after some crappie. My wife loves fish, but not fried.

Bake them or grill them. I like to blacken them and make fish tacos but don't do it inside the house or you'll set off all the smoke alarms.
To whom much is given, much is required.

Afaik it is against the law to eat crappie any way but fried in yellow cornmeal.
From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."
Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

I like them fried the best either whole or filleted. One non-fried way that really turned out pretty good was whole on the charcoal grill. Do it similar to how you'd see a snapper or sea bass grilled whole. Descaled, gutted, cut some slits in the sides and season to taste. Stuffing some lemon, herbs and butter in there helps. I guess a lot of people don't like the head on there, but you get the most out of each fish if you cook them whole.

Fillet and skin them, dip in an egg & milk wash, roll in Zatarains Crisp & Bake for Seafood, then put in the oven at 375 for 15-20 minutes. Mmmmmmmmm good!!

directions 1.pre heat oven to 450 2.in a small bowl prepair egg wash.in a separate bowl mix together bread crumbs, parmesan cheese , and thyme. dip filets in egg wash then press into crump mixture to coat.place filets in glass baking dish, and drizzle in melted butter. 3.bake on top rack of preheated oven until fish flakes easily, about 15 mins.

I made blackened crappie with pontchartrain sauce last night and it was awesome! You can pretty much put that sauce on anything though and it would be great.
