RangerBass21, are you the guy who Mark Pack and I talked to during Day 1 of the Platinum Team Trail event last June? We were in a white FX21. No, why?

Was just wondering. He was a real nice guy in a Ranger who gave us a very wide berth. Wanted to thank you if that was you as this guy was also in a big ranger.

I e-mailed the SRA about 2 years ago with the same question when I bent a prop shaft going into LFM and this was the reply that I got and I will pass it along
Dear Mr. Cates, Thank you for your inquiry regarding a boat lane from Lake Fork Marina. The Sabine River Authority shares your concern for boater safety. I was glad to hear that the incident you described in your e-mail did not result in anyone's injury. As you are aware, Lake Fork reservoir is full of underwater hazards (primarily trees). The main boat lanes you referred to in your e-mail were cleared prior to the reservoir's inundation. The Sabine River Authority has not marked a boat lane to Lake Fork Marina to date because there is no safe lane to mark. Like you, I have seen many boats driving on a plane "through the trees". I encourage every boater to slow down whenever they are outside of the boat lanes. The few minutes saved are not worth the risk of an accident. Please spread the word to other boaters to slow down outside of the boat lanes. Thank you again for contacting us. It scares me every time I have gone in there, but I slow down, trim up etc..When its windy it gets dicey as well..Funny thing is I have never had anything happen other than light taps on trees..

With all the events lake fork marina host why is there not a marked lane that is visible on water? I know u can buy cards with guide lanes but I figured it would be nice to get some markers so us noobies can run in there and eat lunch or weigh fish for mega bass event Because there was never a lane cut through there. There's no guarantee that any specific route doesn't have stumps if the water gets down low enough. There are tons of routes that are stump-free at 3-4 feet low that become dangerous at 6+ feet low.

so the conclusion is to stay on the boat lanes and idle when you get out unless you know the lake.

There are so many "runs" from LFM to the main boat lane that everyone uses something different. the best thing to do is to do a slow drive in and out with your motor down, mark waypoints on your graph & be sure the trail is clear. Then you have your own trail and your own waypoints and you won't feel nearly as puckered up. The "trick" of all runs like this is to stay in the same line each time,,,, 1 foot one way or another and it is shop time.

Learning boat lanes on unfamiliar lakes are a little nerve racking. Wonder how to make learning curve easier? Mark lanes as waypoints on your gps or mark lanes using reflectors to a tree, if you go ray roberts and see reflectors in tree, that's me ok tks. Looking forward to fishing with you after I return from Ca.

Was through there last week and noticed a number of empty plastic bottles tied up. Are these marking stumps?
PM me to let me know how it was!
