Mason is good only if you can get a spool of fresh line. I've bought it at Barlow's and it's been on the shelf so long it's brittle.

I have been using McCoys Mean Green since 2000 and have straightened out #4 hooks on a CB before with it. It does NOT have a memory problem, like mono, because it is a copolymer line that floats. It has a good amount of stretch to it and is abrasion resistant as all get out. Good stuff for all moving baits and 20# for slow moving baits. I do NOT use it for C-rigs, as it is a little too much stretch for me, but I use Big Game or Maxima for that application. Hope this helps.
Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I'm sure there are better lines out there, but Big Game has sure caught my fair share of big fish over years...tough and dependable.

Big game 15 pound is my staple. Use spider wire 8pound mono for finesse applications..

My partner turned me on to mason years ago, as with previous post we got it at Barlows, but it got more and more scarce and brittle..Great line originally, but lost confidence...

Aren't most of the monos the same - if you get new?

Not really DFW-fisherman. They all react differently, some have a lot more memory (BIG GAME) while others are stiffer (Pline) or more flexible. Each has it's own properties. When I fished Big Game, I had to respool every month because of the memory. I could have tied it off and stretched it, but that only lasted another month, so I was respooling a lot with it (tournament fishing). McCoys has been on a couple of my reels for 7 years now. Still GREAT line like the day I put it on. Treat with Reel Magic and good as new. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I have to give another vote to Maxima ultragreen. Never break off fish with this and have been using it for over 20 years. Mainly fish Rayburn and Toledo but even pulling fish out of the trees in falcon for the few years it was great down there I just didn't lose fish to line or knot failure. For this reason, I don't change my line but once a year at most and I don't retie very often either. Yes, there will be some memory with Maxima but it does take about a year to show up on most of my reels. I use Maxima and seaguar fluorocarbon on several reels also depending on applicatioin.
