No doubt that's a nice fish, but IMO it doesn't look like it has the girth to make 15#, maybe 13+ lbs. Here's the current Allen Henry lake record 15.0 (length 25.25", girth 22") fish that was caught, on 3/31/06.

Several of us here at Lake Alan Henry have decided this is not legit. None of us heard about it here. I was at the ramp twice that day. People were on the crappie dock and several boats out fishing. Looks more like the 11 lb bass I caught 3 years ago here.

I was there Saturday and Sunday... Got my butt handed to me.
Nice fish though. To bad she's gone, I'm not sure AH has many more LM left!

Its it definitely a hoax!!! Ain't no way a fish that big can be caught without the necessary accessories including but not limited to: twin Power Poles, Hydrowave, double 12" spotlight/360 side imaging electronics with a GPS linked trolling motor. Now there may be a little truth only if he caught it on a $2,000 Megabass combo throwing a Bull Shad swimbait.
In all seriousness, that is a nice fish that has become hard to find in Alan Henry. It does look a little small for 15 lbs. A few years back, I caught one that was around that size on Alan Henry that went just over 12. That extra 3 lbs translates to a lot of girth that is evident by the picture of the record fish. I used to fish that lake a lot, and believe Alan Henry still has a new record swimming around somewhere. They are not as abundant and are much more intelligent than they were back in the day when multiple Sharelunkers were being caught a year. I remember bed fishing one day passing by 5+ lbs fish because they weren't big enough to mess with!!!

Then again, the length and girth ratio to weight is just reccomendations. Check out the TPWD website on sharelunkers and look at the girth and length. If you click on the girth tab it orders them from largest to smallest. Smallest was a bass that had only a 14 inch girth o.0 and i believe its length was only 21 inches or something. I call it a typo but if you look at the chart you will see some contradictions to what many of us have probably caught as our PB's. For example my PB was 8 pounds even, 23.5 inches in length and 19.5 inches in girth. My bass had measurements larger than some of the sharelunkers which weighed at least 5 pounds more than my bass did. I guess seeing as how most sharelunkers are full of eggs, maybe eggs weigh more than whats normally in a bass' stomach? Or maybe a bass' food sources weigh different per individual. Anyone know if a single crawfish weighs more than a shad? You can see where I'm going with this. If a bass eats mainly crawfish it might weigh more than a bass that eats primarily shad, even tho the bass that ate shad might have a larger girth. If someone has a clear explanation of this please enlighten me or correct me. Thanks!

Several of us here at Lake Alan Henry have decided this is not legit. None of us heard about it here. I was at the ramp twice that day. People were on the crappie dock and several boats out fishing. Looks more like the 11 lb bass I caught 3 years ago here. Well it's a photo taken by a co-worker of mine. The fish was still, although barely, alive at the time the picture was taken. The picture was taken Friday evening at the square in Snyder. That is the northeast corner of the courthouse. Was the fish 15.25 lbs? I don't know. I didn't see it although if I did I still wouldn't know. My buddy did say it was bigger than the 12 lber he caught. Was he fishing Alan Henry? Thats what the young man said. What part of this do you believe is a hoax? And no offense, but I think his fish looks bigger than the 11 lber you posted. It looks long and fat. Biggest bass I've ever held was 9 1/2 lbs. anything over that just simply looks huge to me. From the way it sounded he caught this fish and ran straight to town to show his dad. Good chance nobody at the lake saw it, and this was Friday not Saturday or Sunday. I pretty much got my butt handed to me as well. 7 fish Saturday with biggest Under 3 lbs and 3 13" fish on Sunday. But I spent a lot of time in deeper water hoping for a biggun. I thought for sure the 4 degree drop in temperature in a week kept them out deep. Maybe not.

Nice fish though. To bad she's gone, I'm not sure AH has many more LM left! Are you the gentleman I spoke too Sunday morning? I was in the blue/white skeeter bay boat. My daughter has caught the only largemouth landed in my boat on that lake last August. Been nothing but spots since. Gonna do my best to change that soon though!

From the picture, it's obvious that's a California-raised-on-trout spotted bass. Those pics have been floating around forever and yet we're no closer to knowing whether Roswell was a cover up than we were before.
Just my 3 pesos.

Just my 3 pesos. They sure put forth lots of effort to transport that fish to Snyder, in a 5-gallon bucket at that.

I don't mean to take anything away from the proud angler and I definitely don't want Sprigsss post to go into muddy water. I was comparing the angler's bass to Billy's lake record and noticed that he was holding his fish farther away and his left hand almost wraps around the tail, where as Billy is holding his fish closer to his body and the position of his left hand tells me that his fish is probably much wider & thicker. And I know the weight of his fish was certified. Just my 2 cents worth. I haven't been to AH since probably '03 or '04. I think it was late Feb or early March. I do remember it was around 24 degrees in the morning when I launched and maybe got up to mid 40's in the afternoon. I made several trip with my brother before then, but never did much good on size, numbers weren't bad.
