I fished that part of the lake once ...years ago and found that the water is deep & it is gin clear. Caught fish but it was tough. The next few months is going to be great crappie fishing ...

I think it is a little over 4' low. The lake looked real good ...much, much better than this past summer when it was over 8' low. More rain is coming ...hopefully, all lakes is at or near full pool for the summer.

Bobby and I fished Butcherpen for a few hours in the late afternoon. Only got 4 nice crappie and one LMB. Fished jigs under bobbers in shallow water as that is all Butcherpen has, deepest spots are maybe 10' deep at most. Rocky bottom, very little timber and only a few brush piles and some nice laydowns. Water temp was low 50's when we arrived and rose to 58 by the time we left. Not a cloud in the sky yesterday. This is an area unknown to most but, known to produce big slabs in quantity. It is an area of Texoma that is isolated now due to silting in and the low lake level. Very clear water and a beautiful spot. One decent ramp and the entire area is maybe 700 acres with a huge bald eagle next visable in the north end.
I'm thinking we are only a few days away from them really turning on.

I MIGHT be able to slip away in a couple of weeks...send me a PM, with some preferred/suggested dates and let me see if I can figure out how to shuffle my "work" schedule around...got some "Kitchen Passes" available; in fact, Sandra has mentioned fresh crappie a couple of times lately...I have just been too busy keeping up so far...feeding requirements have slowed last few days...when it stops and grass shows...I will take a break to fish...
