I'm building stencils today for crawfish pattern on a little John and I can't decide how to do it. I have 2 decent sketches. What do you guys think?

Thanks I walk around with a photo reference of a crawfish everyday hehehe, I just hate wasting 6 stencils if it doesn't turn out right. I'm trying to make the crankbait gill take the place of the head segment of the crawfish but it kinda throws the dimminsions out of Wack.

Crawfish dart away in reverse. I would think the pattern should be backwards on a crank...with the tail of the crawfish being the bill of the crank.

You thought yours out more than me though I'm about to try mine out and see if it is usable

you're right but getting that to look right on a crankbait shape is a challenge. you don't even want to see some of my fails trying to do that. they look like something from a sci-fi movie.
there are some reverse craws out there.

OK I'll bite .....what's the story behind the crawfish tat.

My family is all from south Louisiana and when I was finishing out my sleeve I had some space to fill up so I decided to get a crawfish it's hard to tell in pics but its being boiled. Just something to remind me of home I guess, it's the only boiled crawfish I have had in about 10 years lol

Thought so...your location (Chatham, LA) gave it away. I spent a fair amount of time working in Louisiana around Baton Rouge. Some of the best people I've ever known there...went out of their way to make a person feel at home. Good food, cold beer, friendly people......just had to remember to say "good school, good team", and then smile, when they mentioned the LSU Tigers.....Seriously, I've been a lot of places and always looked forward to spending time there.

I have a lake front camp about 5 miles from Chatham Louisiana which is in North loisiana on Caney lake. It's great bass fishing but I only seam to make it over there for deer season. We lived about 40 miles south of baton Rouge I still have some family down there but never find the time to make it down there.
