Went overboard once on lake Athens reaching for a falcon rod and curado combo I kicked over. It was early march and a cooler morning. Thank goodness my grandmother lived close to the lake. Left my buddy fishing by the ramp for an hour while I dried clothes at her house. I did get the rod though but ruined a cell phone.

I have gone in three times. First time in 48 water. Last time was last year in May on Fork with 60 water. Not fun at all. Last time I was by myself.

I have read more stories about a guy having the boat get away from him when launching, going in to get it
and never making it to the boat or back to shore. Seems like about the number one way that fisherman drown.

If you go fishing in a boat, eventually, you will fall in. Fortunately for me, the two times I have taken the big dip, I was on Monticello (when it was generating) and Bastrop at the discharge.

Be safe,

Fallen out of my boat twice, both times at Fork.

First time was in Oct in 65 degree water. Did a backflip into the water when the seat on my little piepan boat pulled up outta its base. Hit the water and was so disoriented, I swam to the bottom. Luckily the water was only about 8 feet deep. When I hit the bottom, I realized the error of my ways! lol

Next time was Feb in 50 degree water when I got wedged between two trees in my big boat. Put my foot out on a stump and tried to push the boat back away from the stump. Bad idea... 50 degree water will take your breath away. You lose the ability to swim very quickly. If it had not been for my partner I would be in Heaven today.

Fell out in Rayburn once when the seat pedestal broke, it was summertime, thank God and I was not alone. Went into Toledo Bend once, also summertime but was alone, boat drefted away from me but was able to get to boat, all I could do to get back into boat, finally raised the motor and stood on the lower unit to get in. Almost went into Cooper in cold weather when I was pushing off from a dead tree and it broke, straddled the side of boat but didn't get wet all over. Scary, be careful. b

If I'm not fishing or hunting I'm hunting a place to fish or hunt.
