In all my years of fishing Roberts, I can think of maybe 2-3 years where I actually sight fished. I wish Roberts was as clear as fork. It has really depended on lake level, obviously the rains we had and what the grass was doing. Up in lick, that had been my best success sight fishing. I will agree the majority of the bigger fish not all of them were in deeper water around 8'.

I've fished all over TX for 30 years and RR is one of the worst sight fishing lakes around. Not a bad lake, just awful sight fishing. Wonder what the zebra's will do this year though. Got a feeling it may be a game changer. Guess we'll have to get out there and find out.

If anybody would know it would be this guy.

That lake's pretty darn clear in my opinion. That's first time I have heard "Zebra's have helped," related to anything about Texas lakes, but I understand what they're really saying. Pushing all the Chamber of Commerce speak, it seems to be getting tougher year-over-year. Rain. Please rain.

I agree that roberts is clearer this year than in the past. May be a little easier this year. In the past I've found them in 2 ft , but couldn't see them. They gave themselves up by moving. Usually the wind is not cooperating for that to happen. There was an previous comment about Lick, if you haven been to the lake in a while you will be shocked what many parts of creeks really look like at 8 ft low.

one fact you left out, according to Corps rule what water flow entering any corps lake is the water flow leaving the lake regardless of need ( this can be altered to control flooding not drought). They can not stop the natural flow of water in accordance to there own rules. Also once the water level on Ray Roberts is below 10 feet all cities involved in usage must pay for the gallons being removed.

Saw fish in 4-5 feet last year. That is not normal though. 2 feet is normally GOOD clarity for RR. Until the last couple years I never even attempted to look for them. Even with the water so clear if they are over a couple feet deep they are difficult to see unless they move and I think it has a lot to do with the green tint to the water here.
