I'm going to get a little long winded on a fish story here. My apologies. I feel like this deserves an explanation. This picture was taken of me with my largest bass ever. It was Spring Break back in 1999. I've bass fished ever since I can remember and started doing tournaments with my dad when I was 13. Before this fish, my biggest bass was around 7lbs. We were in a cove on the Eastern side of Lake Fork fishing suspending Rogues and Super Flukes. As you can tell it was freezing cold that day and we had good success all morning. We caught a good amount of 4 pounders but no monsters. I had a loop in the spool of my Curado so I turned around and threw my white pearl super fluke into the middle of the cove. As I'm picking out the backlash, a big fish jumps in the middle near where I threw my bait. I quickly started feeling in my slack when I noticed my line racing to the right. I set the hook and reeled in this girl. So I caught my biggest bass ever by mistake. Makes me laugh to this day. How big would you all guess she is based in the picture? I have no measurements or anything. I was about 6'1" in this picture and weighed around 170lbs. I hate not knowing how big she really was.

If you weighed 170lbs in this picture, I may be pushing 350 by now. That fish looks like to be not an ounce over 8lbs. Very nice fish at that!

Yep. 8 1/2lbs. Nice catch.
My personal best of 12.9 was caught similarly.
I was fishing late into the evening. It was just dark. I couldn't see my line. So I made a "last cast" as far as I could. Then pulled off about another 20ft of line with the intentions of reeling it in evenly to put away the rod. Before I could even finish stripping line and engaging the reel, it started running. Lol. I almost [censored] myself. Haha. Not only was the line out as far as I could cast, but I added to that length before I realized what was happening! But... Long story short... Sometimes it is how you find an additional "presentation". Lol. Cast it. Let it sit for about 30-40 seconds. Then start the retrieve.
Good catch! Btw.
