I use RiverA tackle heavy spin shot hooks and sunline sniper 12 pound.....protungsten skinny drop shot weight in 1/4 ounce.... 12-14" tag for weight and I Texas rig zoom or robo worms.....6'9 TFO tactical medium casting and a Lew's tournament light. I fish it like a Carolina or Texas rig all the time.....Eddie Garrett got me doing this and I've been killing them ever since.

Swalker and Rick, thanks for the replies. Wow, I've never used a line size less than 12# on casting gear. I use a 13 Fishing Omen 6'10" Medium action rod with a GSX Elite reel. Both are very light weight and the reel is very smooth with close tolerances for smaller lines. I have tried different reels that don't have tight enough tolerance between the spool and frame and 8lb will sneak behind the spool. I also have a 7' Omen with a Pinnacle Optimus XiHS reel that is light and tight. I use it with slightly larger baits with either 8lb or 10 lb. I may try using braid with a leader.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. A follow up question is what kind of hook do you use on a Bubba dropshot rig?

I don't dropshot with baitcasting gear often, but when I do...I prefer Dos Equis...wait no...I use a Shimano Chronarch MG on a custom medium light rod. In my opinion, the light line enables the bait to move more freely. I know a lot of guys use a bubba rig, but that's not how I fish.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. A follow up question is what kind of hook do you use on a Bubba dropshot rig? 6'6' medium heavy carbonlight with 10 or 12lb transition. but that is what I use for dropshotting period. http://rahfish.com/pros-view/structure-f...as-gone-before/

I like to fish a dropshot rig, but prefer casting gear over spinning gear. Am fishing in water with no vegetation or wood. The water is stained, but not bad. What size line would you use on a baitcasting reel for this application? Will appreciate hearing your thoughts. 12 lb Trilene XL Green.
