Speaking of temps, I am wondering about the difference in surface temps during cold weather and the water temps in say 10 or 40 feet of water. Depth finders show temps that are surface temps. Used to be a product called a color selector that Jimmy Houston promoted that had a cable that you lowered into the water where you could get a temperature reading at various depths if I remember correctly.

Lol NVM A lot of people, you are prob included in this group, do not have a clue that just because the water temp on your graph says 39, the fish will bite, becuase just a few feet under the surface he water can be as much as 15-20 degrees higher. Thus, I said I wish he would keep his trap shut, it was a joke , but never mind you may be one of those "special" types who do not get much....

Hank Parker was having difficulties with the language of English in his 5 minutes worth of production. Poor guy couldn't even remember the contestants name.

Water is its densest at 39 degrees. If you're around 40 degrees surface temp and there is not sun to warm up the surface, you are often going to have fairly homogeneous temps through the water column. I'm glad crappy weather keeps the fair weather folks off the lakes this time of year. Great time of the year to whack the big girls without all the boat traffic that spring brings.

There was a great study I read about that! You're spot on as I recall....
