Interesting, I have 2 MG's and they are the most solid reels I've ever used. I guess with any mass-produced reel their will be some that don't come out as good. It's difficult to pinpoint exactly what I don't like about the newer Shimano's but maybe I'll give them a shot.

I was skeptical over the I series after the g series shenanigans but I do believe Shimano realized they stepped on it big time and really worked on the I. Found one to pull apart the other day and it's a darn good reel.

The curado I has too many problems. The side cover didn't go on and it makes noises. I returned one and bought another one. I had to return the second one bc it had the same noise. The salesperson couldn't put on the sideplate either. I'd go with the chronarch 200e7. I think it's on sale at cabela's for $159.99 or the bass pro qualifier for $50 at bass pro
