Something that should stand out to you about this thread is that you shouldn't be throwing black and blue. Everybody else is. right, why would anyone want to throw a color that works?

I tie a green pumpkin with blue flake and half black with blue flake. It's basically my version of tramp stamp from RI. Works everywhere.

I believe you can catch fish on B&B this time of year or anytime if you want, GREAT color choice. I know I would rather use PB&J this time of year because I catch more fish on it during the JAN through first of March. The Spring Craw Mark was using is close to the PB&J. They both have a mixture of colors which work. I believe you can use what ever color you want to use. I didn't see anyone say you should't use B&B, they and I where just saying what we tent to use this color this time of year. just my .02

Shhhhhh this was a secret. LOL I think you are a little late Guide Eddie Garrett turn me on to theses a while back. I had been using the LFT Hyper Freak for years but I have to say I believe I catch more fish on this trailer. I believe it is because this trailer floats up and the Hyper Freak tries to lay on bottom. I just know me and Eddie went out a few weeks ago and I fished both I couldn't get a bite that couple of days on the LFT but the Excite I got bitten on. I know the LFT will catch fish because of all the fish I have caught in the past years. I know the bite was tough and under those conditions I did better on the Excite. I also know as the conditions get better I can use the LFT trailer. I guess for me going forward when the bite gets tough I will be throwing the Excite trailer.

Its almost fascinating to me trying to determine what colors work best during different times of the year, at different depths, clarity of the water, water temps, etc...
That's why I asked the questions, I typically use Black/Blue the most, Ultimate PB&J more of an offshore color, but I was wanting some opinions. I should have specified lake fork.
I read something one time where some pro would get to a lake a few days before a tournament and pre fish but also set out some crawfish traps, he would check them the next day and have a good idea of what color the crawfish where at that time.
As a kid, I always thought they where red and brown, but I have seen some green colored ones sometimes in clearer water or out deeper if a fish spits one up, they do look different at different depths, may have to do with sunlight, etc..
Pretty interesting topic for nerds like me I guess

Pretty interesting topic for nerds like me I guess I have caught some of my biggest fish with Mark Pack on PB&J in two foot of water. I would say the color has more to do with the color of the crawfish then depth. I have caught nearly all of my fish on Fork

I like the Xcite raptor craw trailer in molten craw also. I make a jig skirt to match it.

That's good to know. For some reason I like flipping black and blue and dragging PB&J. But I'm heading out there later this week and I'm going to drag some main lake points and try a few different colors.

Mark are you changing your hooks from Gamakatsu to Mustad. The last jigs I bought had a Mustad hook.
