There many different styles of kayaks some actually sit on the deck tend to get wet butts, no matter how you try there will still be water gathering. Paddling just getting into the yak ...even choppy water. Different strokes different boats..what do you fish from spiderjig? WS Ride 135 w/high seat. Im rather new to the yak game. I haven't experienced any water getting in yet. maybe beginners luck

I'll wear waders if the weather is going to be cold enough that even getting my feet wet launching will make me miserable. I want to fish and not think about my now freezing legs and feet. or even the paddle drip. Kayaking is called a water sport, and no matter what type of kayak you have, you will get wet in some areas. When it's cold, good pair of waders will be less cumbersome, and actually keep you warm and toasty even though you may not need them to stay dry.
Just one more cast!

One of the best investments I have made for cold water kayaking is a pair of the Simms G3 Guide pants. Being breathable and ultra light weight, you really forget you are wearing them and no longer have to worry about wet feet. I matched them up with a pair of the least bulky wading boots I could find.

that is good that you haven't got wet yet. I am fairly new to the kayak fishing world myself. the your yak is a nice one i've seen a few out there when I am fishing. I have never fished out of a ride 135 yet. hope we can meet up sometime. new fishing friends are always welcomed.

Not in the Summer Waders = nice gear to have IMO. U will need them if you r in the water. U arent as limited with them as without them. Most times you're going to at least get your feet wet depending on where and how u put in snow or no snow. Neoprene booties knee highs, dry suites, wet pants n top, wet suits, bibs, waders can help you stay dry and comfortably warm. There r many options. I'd rather be warm and a lil wet from the inside then be cold and soaked from the outside. some are goin 2 b more comfortable fancy & lightweight than others. A snuggly worn belt is highly recommended. I think the most ive ever paid for waders was $60. My neoprene bibs have a convenient front zipper around $85. at Mariner Sails in dallas Compair Sims to the cheap-o waders:

How tough are you? I am wearing waders right now. Saw a guy wading the Brazos below PK Sunday.
