So, those of you that use the Bubba Blade do you prefer the 7 or 9 inch blade? Do you have to sharpen them all the time or will they hold an edge for several fish cleanings? I started to buy one the other day but I don't want to sharpen a knife every time I clean fish.

The Bubba Blade is all I use for my professional work. I use a Work Sharp Tool Sharpener to keep it sharp, and it will hold an edge for 100-125 fish. You can find these at Academy or Bubba Blade.com. If I'm fishing recreationally or out camping, I use a knife that I sale made by Victorinox. It is a more traditional style filet knife than the Bubba Blade, and is surgically sharpened. I sale these on my website at www.constantpursuitoutfitters.com.I don't use electric for two reasons: One, there isn't a brand that I've found that can stand up to commercial use. Two, electric knives are slower than a sharp fixed blade knife. Here is a picture of the Victorinox knife. 8" blade.

I use the 9 inch flex for everything. I haven't found anything it won't work on. I have even used it on Tuna, wahoo, Mahi, kings, reds, & trout. All around a good knife.
If I didn't clean about 10,000 fish per year I might do it differently. The electric just doesn't hold up to commercial use.

9" flex! I use it on catfish, crappie, Red Fish, Black Drum, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Turkey, Deer, Hogs, Picking my nose, etc.
