Anyone have an opinion or insight on how the ATAK will track or how efficient of a paddle it will be compared to the Tarpon 140/160? Will the profile make it less vulnerable to wind?

The short answer is yes. The lower profile performs great in the wind. Hard to compare it to the Tarpon, they are completely different animals, but it tracks very well and paddles better than the Ride IMO.

So possibly as far as speed and efficiency, between the Ride 135 and Tarpon 140

I would almost agree with that; I have yet to see a shot of the hull. It's hard to look past the 34" beam compared to the Ride 135's 30.5" beam. However, the lower profile and rocker look great on the kayak.

IMO - stability is better that my Ride, maneuverability is comparable to ride, and tracking is close to the thresher

Width comparable to Jackson Coosa, slightly less than Jackson Big Tuna at 35", Big Tuna is heavy and don't want to paddle that any distances, been there and done that.

thumb Not going to lie, I'm a bit jealous.

Another concern even with the width is the weight of the kayak. It's going to take some effort getting that much mass going.

I was told speed and glide was close to that of the tarpon 140 and thresher.

I have a hard time believing a 34" wide hull is going to be as an efficient hull as a 28" wide Tarpon 140. All this talk though has really got me anxious to paddle one.

I agree hard to believe a 34"width yak having the efficiency and glide of a 28" kayak. I guess until it comes out and demo all you can do is speculate.

I have also read will be rigged for a motor for the flex pod be able to go forward and reverse.
